Letterman: Joke "Beyond Flawed," Fully Apologizes to Palin »
Posted By TechnologyExpert 4 months, 3 weeks ago in Political NewsLet's hope this is the end of the David Letterman - Sarah Palin feud. While last week Letterman apologized, it was in a snarky sort of way, and wasn't accepted by Palin.

Do you recall Limbaugh's famously lame apology for his Chelsea Clinton remarks (he blamed it on a techical glitch?) or his being Imus-ed? And his joke WAS clearly directed at a child.
Reply
Yet hardly unusual that Republicans don't accept an apology. Why follow the Christian idea of forgiveness afterall? Religion is a prop to these people anyway. And of course the concept of accepting responsibility for anything gone wrong is so alien to conservatives they only apologize when their head is under a guillotine.
A great chance to then praise ex-President GW Bush for apologizing for his asinine jingoistic remarks post-9/11. Something tells me deep down inside there is a reasonably decent (although blue-blooded) man. His post election silence also speaks to this. Only, like McCain recently attempted, he sold his soul for political fortune. Surely a deal with the devil (Turd Blossom?) brought so many neocons into his midst. And there is something so very Republican about the entire idea of "soul-selling" (sic). I recently watched some excerpts from some of GW's speeches as Governor of Texas and you have to wonder whatever happened to that guy? He never seems to have arrived in Washington. -

While I think Letterman's so-called joke was in very poor taste, it's certainly not the worst since Palin hit the scene:

These were taken today from www.starcasm.com
Last September, a skit on Saturday Night Live suggested incest in the Palin family. “What about the husband?” asked a mock Times reporter. “You know he’s doing those daughters. I mean, come on. It’s Alaska!” No outrage. Sarah Palin appeared on the show one month later in late October.
Days after the announcement of Bristol’s pregnancy, Conan O’Brien joked, “It’s true, John McCain’s running mate, Alaska Governor Sarah Palin, has revealed that her 17-year-old daughter is pregnant. Palin said, ‘We should never have introduced her to John Edwards.’” Where was the outrage? Was Conan promoting infidelity with an underage girl?
From two different Tonight Shows: “Governor Palin announced over the weekend that her 17-year-old unmarried daughter is five months pregnant. Oh, boy, you thought John Edwards was in trouble before, now he’s really done it!” AND…”All the Republicans are heaping praise on Governor Palin. Fred Thompson said, as an actor, he could see them making a movie about Sarah Palin and her family. Didn’t they already make that movie? I think it was called ‘Knocked Up!’”–Jay Leno
Craig Ferguson’s skit of “Larry King vs Levi Johnston” asks about “kinky sex” with the drapes open. Craig Ferguson’s honorary Alaska citizenship, granted by Governor Palin wasn’t rescinded.
“According to expense reports, Sarah Palin charged the state of Alaska over $21,000 for her children to travel with her on official business. In fairness to Gov. Palin, when she leaves them home alone they get pregnant.” –Seth Meyers (SNL). Sarah Palin was in a sketch with Meyers a week earlier.
October 8, 2008, Sarah Palin walked out on the ice with six year old Piper and 13 year old Willow, before the game, Conan O’Brien said, “Saturday night, Sarah Palin is going to drop the first puck at the Philadelphia Flyers’ hockey game. Then Palin will spend the rest of the game trying to keep the hockey players out of her daughter’s penalty box.”
Oh, yes he did. You get the outrage…but not a peep then. According to the new “logic”, O’Brien was advocating for some really sick stuff. -

This is what passes for an apology among certain liberals. I say "certain" in deference to those anti-Palin liberals who had and continue to have the decency to call Lettermen out on this.-

Letterman's apology is perfectly adequate. What is ridiculous is that Palin harped on about this for so long. I hope she gets all of the publicity she desires. That people really start looking at her and examining her core beliefs. This is a woman who I watched preach to a youth group about morals and the righteousness of Christianity. Then she hits the campaign trail and spews nothing but character assasination and insinuations against her opponents. Wouldn't a true Christian let God handle such judgements?
This is a woman who less than a week ago used the term "I told ya so!" in supposed political discourse. That is not cute, that is immature and dumb! This is a woman who used Gretchen Wilson's "Redneck Woman" as a campaign theme. That's hardly preaching or seeking diversity.
She is fortunate in that she has perhaps the easiest job of any governor. She governs a population the size of Charlotte, NC and is provided built in revenues from big oil. The idea that this woman of such limited and hypocritical thinking could ever hold national office is frightening. It will be the ultimate statement that the dumbing of America is complete. That we are in fact regressing, no longer progressing forward. I don't want to hear another word of her as a "victim". I am sure she could always arrange a slaughter of a few hapless wild animals if she wants to make herself feel better.
She made the joke about a 14 year old girl, not Letterman. Without her phony outrage this would have literally passed in the night. -

Then tell us how this is different from the NUMEROUS times cons have offered non-apologies along the lines of "IF you were offended...blah blah...". What do YOU think and do you get outraged when you see this behavior you claim to be outraged over on the right?

Palin is just digging herself deeper. She should have made one comment and moved on. But noooooo, like most Repubs, she doesn't know when to shutup! Fine with me. more and more people see her for what she is. A stupid gun-totin bible-thumpin right winger with a severe cerebral deficit disorder.

Did you catch the little digs in this article about how some unknown somebody is alleged to have been sending racist statements, etc. to the White House? I wonder, would that be anything like the crap that used to be sent to Condalesa Rice? Btw, was it a well known comedian sending the crap to Obama and company? No, I didn't think so.

Perhaps if Letterman is fired he'll learn to be less of an icehole. Naw! I can't stand him. Some icehole who gets paid millions to act like a jerk and insult people. I know people who do it better than him for free. Letterman desperately needs to have his butt kicked or kicked out or both.

You nutjobs wouldn't have said anything if that pasty bouncing corpulent right wing weasel you watch and listen to every day had said the VERY same thing about someone on the left. You'd all be bitching about "free speech" and censorship this...blah blah" if someone said that cave dweller should be fired for the CRAP he spews daily. You cons are an absolute freaking joke of a white supremacist clan. You can't be serious. LMAO ;-x -

I notice this morning on morning Joe,how upset he got that Palin mention the arm forces that fought, and died for Letterman's right to malign a you child.MSNBC is the home of Mathews,Olbermann, and Maddow the last place you want to wave the flag or mention the honor of our military.

Sorry they were saying that she was using this so called scandal for political purposes. Any real parent wouldn't have needed to wave the flag and thump the bible to get their point across. Only a political hack would need to reference our female soldiers while acting like they were accepting a much unneeded apology.

Dave messed up. He made a crude joke. He didn't even know of ANY of her daughters joined her to the game much lees her fourteen year old one. How many times must a man apologize to get good ol' christian forgiveness?
FYI, the nighttime line up on MSNBC is very left leaning, But, Joe Scarborough is a republican. He was even a Republican Congressman.

By the way, it's obvious from these boards alone that cons are well trained. Letterman tries to defuse the situation but cons (including media wh*re Palin) won't STHU because you NEED all the support you can muster for next year and 2012. Cons are transparent as hell.

--We've all been asking that same question more or less since Palin made her debut at the GOP Convention last summer. Is John McCain serious? Why is this annoying woman on the stage? What is she trying to say? Why is she talking so loud and what makes her think America is ready to take seriously a VP candidate who can't read or write and parades around with her boobs hiked up and smashed together into a tiny little tight red leather motorcycle jacket looking like they're plotting to escape any second now? We're still waiting for those answers... ;-(

we should stop taking ourselves so seriously. Letterman made a bad choice, Imus made a bad choice, Kramer made a bad choice can we not just leave it alone and move on. My ideology and politics will not be changed by any of the material posted here or anything Letterman has to say so, who cares. People "well most" are capable of separating themselves from the bull that is the media and their beliefs. If you look at how many people actually pay attention to this crap it doesn't amount to many in the grand scheme of things. What matters is votes and right now Obama is our president and until we can vote his commie ass out of office it is what it is.

I'm very pleased Governor Palin was able to accept his apology. I've worked in sales for several years and can tell a true "I'm sorry.", and an "I'm sorry I got caught." I think it was the later. I don't believe him. He's a lefty who plays hardball with anyone on the right including their families. He's only sorry he got caught. By the way, if he really meant this and really is sorry, so be it. He's lost me as a viewer.

Imus' comment clearly had racial overtones. As a result of the massive amount of complaints to his network, including from sponsors($$$$), the network decided to terminate him.
Reply
Letterman's joke was in extremely poor taste. If the network receives equal complaints, then I am sure they will terminate him as well. It is their prerogative.

OBAMA: AMERICAS CASTRO! The complacent and apathetic voters have made their ill-conceived choice. Putting national security and reform aside, they instead chose the Marxist candidate….the one who promised them the most from the treasury coffers. So much for campaign finance reform. With support from; a left-wing biased Bush/Cheney hating mainstream media, money and ads from moveon.org, fraudulent voter registrations by ACORN, Black Panthers intimidating voters in Philadelphia [and making statements like "a black man is going to win no matter what"], and illegal campaign donations (foreign and domestic), the free market system and experienced national security candidate never had a chance. Never in the history of U.S. elections, has such an extreme liberal, un-vetted, and secretive candidate been elected. It will become America's loss. This man voted over 130 times "Present" while in the Senate, which means he is incapable of making a decision! The middle class bought the Marxist candidates' mantra “I am going to save the middle class” sales pitch, hook, line, and sinker. In short, they were duped. When in actuality, the Kenyan born Barack Hussein Obama will destroy the middle class by creating a welfare dependent class and making them a ward of the state ….he will then own their vote. The Democrats will move quickly to pass and enact laws (i.e., the Fairness Doctrine, more power and money to ACORN, liberal campaign finance laws, ammunition coding and restrictions on gun ownership, granting unions more clout with "Card Check," economy crippling "Cap and Trade" legislation, etc.) to ensure they never lose power through future elections. The future will be a move towards a European style socialist system, where our standard of living and productivity will decline, our mighty military will become smaller and less equipped, and our taxes (all taxes) will go up. We will be forced into smaller cars, smaller homes, and smaller families. We will lose many freedoms, such as the right to own a firearm, the right to vote for a union via a secret ballot [instead the union thugs will tell you how to vote], et al. The gap between the rich elitists and the middle-class/poor will widen and there by destroying our republic and replacing it with a socialistic state. Don't be fooled by the Kenyan born Barack Hussein Obama's current middle-to-conservative cabinets picks (exception being Eric Holder as AG, a true left-wing extremist and anti-gun activist), it is just a smoke screen....remember what Stalin said.
