It is odd that Darwin is so controversial in the States!Here in the UK there are one or two schools that have made a fuss,but 99%+ schools teach Darwin with no trouble.Even the majority of religious schools teach him.Then I guess things like "intelligent design" and "creationism",have never really become seriously thought of,as serious alternatives here either.

There is a large segment of America's population that is very anti-science. Well, I should say anti-science when it suits them, because what's funny is you will often find these folks online complaining of the evils of science.

As I recall, only Turkey has a lower per capita number of acceptors of evolution than America, for developed nations.
