Why would these guys want to kill Carter? It's a good thing that it didn't happen if the claim is true.

I think the possibility of extremists on both sides of the Israeli/Palestine issue may want to throw some sand in the works. Resolving the issue removes their importance and power.

I may be the conspiracy nutjob part of me, but I see no business rationale to solve such problems. Would Symantic want worms/viruses/trojans to go away or be eliminated? Heck, I could see the possibility that they actually clandestinely create the things. Does the Cancer Society actually want cancer cured?

I tend to look for motive in such things. Considering the quest for greed and power that is prevalent today, I see no rationale as to why all organizations are not infected.

Hamas looking out for Carter? Was it an accidental 'find', or were they being proactive? And why would anyone want to hurt Jimmy Carter? I have a suspicion of who would, but of course it will be viewed as crazy. Dang, even after all the research I've done, it still seems so foreign to my life experience that I have to do a reality check now and again. But I still have to hazard my guess that the one group that doesn't want Carter involved in ME peace would be Zionists, and that includes Christian Zionists.

Hama most likely planted the bomb. Now they can enjoy all the kudos for saving Carter's life. Sounds pretty contrived to me.

Knowing how smoothly they work, they probably planted them themselves and forgot where they left them.

Is this Hamas' way to show that not EVERY Islamo-terrorist loves Jimmy Carter?

I'm sure it was planted by Hamas and made to look like they might have saved someone. W/Hama's credibility rating of less than 0 this wouldn't surprise me. But then again it's Jimmy Carter. The best friend our enemies ever had. Who cares?

I don't trust Hammas but I'm not sure if they planted it or not. There are a dozen other groups that would love to attack anyone from the USA and if it insulted or hurt Hammas, even better. This is region where they will never know peace until they love their children more than they love killing their perceived enemies.

What a load of crap. Hammas, PLO, or any other Islamic based terrorist group knows that Carter is your best friend. You send his library some money and he supports your cause. He loves to attack Israel too so he fits in fine with them. What a joke.

FTA: Israel and Egypt have kept Gaza's borders virtually closed since Hamas overran the territory in 2007

This is typical Fox spin. Hamas never overran Gaza. It is a democratically elected government. That's what we want isn't it? Democracy in the middle east?

Only when it serves a purpose. We have supported all sorts leaders, from elected officials to dictators. Many times it has come back to be a pressing foreign policy problem.

We refuse to learn from our mistakes. Or is that intentional? It tends to keep our leaders in power because the citizenry doesn't seem to want to look back 5 or 10 years to see the same leaders creating the very problem they are suddenly touting as being threatening.

Being conservative would mean to not create the problem in the first place.

We (the West) want democracy in the entire world, not only in the Middle East. This does not preclude and does not contradict fighting DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED terrorists like Hamas, DEMOCRATICALLY ELECTED Nazis like Hitler and his thugs, etc.

People in Gaza and other places have the right to elect the leaders they like. They also have an obligation to take responsibility for the results of their elections.

"Nobody in Gaza will touch this man," Hamas adviser Ahmed Yousef said. "He is on a noble mission. Everyone here respects him."

And why doubt that? It is reasonable.

If we are to begin with motive, we should probably be pointing the finger at Mossad. Assassinating Jimmy Carter and blaming Hamas for the deed would be just the kind of false flag op that they would go for.

In fact, it's probably the sort of fantasy Cherev whacks off to.

Hold on skippy. Mossad may not be nice guys but there's one thing they've done that Hammas cannot claim. They've had nukes for the last 35-40 years but have never used them. If Hammas were able to put a dirty bomb together or even a missile launched weapon, could you guarantee with your life they wouldn't use it first chance they get?

As for Mossad, Jimmy Carter wouldn't be worth their time. He isn't worth the 25 cents for the bullet.

Hardly, dear. First, if Mossad was willing to assassinate Carter he would be dead.

Second, no matter who planted these bombs (if there were bombs at all) you and other terrorist behind-lickers would blame Israel and not vice versa.

Third, Israel would NEVER risk ending its relations with the United States by killing the former US President.

Do we really want this nut job visiting the middle east at all? Remember, he's one of the guys that helped give North Korea the breathing room to build the bomb. He went against President Clinton's objections, played peace maker and managed to help them gain time and technology. Do we really want him anywhere near Hammas?
