President Obama does not want the US to appear to be meddling in Iran's internal affairs. It is just that type of meddling that has destroyed our reputation around the world. He is treading very cautiously as well he should. John McCain would be chomping at the bit to intervene.

I suppose you felt the same when when the Nazi bombers we over London in 1940. "Oh, better not make Hitler mad or he'll attack us next."

This is exactly the time to take shots at the mullahs and then back those people up. We screwed the Kurds after the first Gulf War and it took a second war to finally convince them we were for real. Thousands died in the Kurdish regions because our leadership abandoned them. No fly zone, threats of embargoes. Yea right. An embargo is only as strong as your weakest ally, in Iraq's case it was the EU and UN. Oil for weapons program.
This time we need to be ready to hit and hit hard if there is a chance for those people to be free. If we're not really serious and we fiddlefart around, we will only make Iran stronger. Their secret police will eventually kill enough of the democracy movement and keep control. They're not known to show any mercy to those who question the power of their theocracy. -

I must agree with you on the first point. The last thing that Irans movement needs now is that it seemed to be organized from the west.

We must also look at how much change is the other side. I very touchy situation that MUST be handled with white gloves. It is MOST important to halt the nucleur capabilities no matter who is in charge.

When has Hannity asserted that Obama was not a legitimately elected president?

BTW...read the latest Ann Coulter column on Obama and Iran. If Hannity has you wrenched, Coulter will have your panties twisted so tight you'll be choking on them. -

I don't think Hannity has any problems admitting Obama is president. What we see, at least from the conservative side, is a lot of people coming to us who voted for Obama but show every sign of "buyers remorse." They voted for hope & change without understanding what he really stood for. No offense but the media really never covered some of his more radical ideas. In fact if one was to say it was almost like the German media in 1933, it would be accurate comparison. They panned McCain, which I agree, he sucked. But Obama was never fully vetted by his own party. I wonder how many retirees who once thought their retirement holdings would permit them to live in comfort are now worthless because of GM and Chrysler's bankruptcy plans. Those were mainly bond holders who were left with nothing contrary to former bankruptcy laws. I wonder how many small businesses will be forced to close with the new health care plans being forced upon them. I wonder how many people who used to work for the insurance industry will now be unemployed. It's going to be interesting how he can spend so much, increase taxes so drastically and still expect business to hire more workers? With what? Another stimulus?

As far as against democracy or hates America, he doesn't but Obama is doing a lot of unusual things as a President to undermine a lot of our nation. Seizing businesses. Taking over the banking industry. Killing all private health insurance. He's making executive orders which are more imperious orders of a monarch. Has anyone told him his creating cabinet "Czars" and staffing them is unconstitutional? Has anyone asked why he's ordered same sex benefits for all Federal employees? Is he writing that check himself? Congress didn't pass that spending bill. He's also failed to explain the changes that will have to happen for Social Security too. That falls under the plan he signed today. So yes, I think Obama is a far greater threat to our nation than all of the Hannity's out there.

You guys bashed Bush claiming he was an imperial president yet you ignore the last 5 months. How is that possible unless you're under the influence of the Obamanation. He's insulted our allies and supported nations who swear daily to destroy our nation. The leaders of France, Germany, Italy, Spain, and the UK were not impressed and have written him off. Why do you think France seems to have grown a pair increasing their military spending. Even the Russians have warned us about the path towards communism he's forcing us onto.

Every time we turn around we have another "crysis" which can only be solved by his out spending every president before him. I would really love to see what he's spending on just the White House events. Parties every few days and flying around in AF1. I think we should see a list of the lobbyists who of course are not visiting the White House but who seem to be there 24/7 from sources around DC. Very interesting. "The most honest and open administration..." Yea right. The Chicago mob took over.....

Hannity resembles a creature that looks pleasing on the outside but on the inside is a seething knot of serpents bent on devouring liberals, gays, democrats, and anyone who doesn't follow the far right agenda. And like the serpent, lies and distorts the facts without pause or conscience. He worships at the feet of Mammon, the patron God of Fox News and it's taskmaster, Murdock.

I hate to say it but I agree w/the prez this time. Not appearing to support the demonstrators probably prevented several headaches which the Iranians would have created. Hannity is wrong on this one. The prez probably does support the demonstrators but can't say it. One of the few prez's smarter moves.

The best way to kill this opposition movement in Iran is to taint it ,in the eyes of the Iranians, with any association of it with the CIA or the USA. There are people on the fence, right now, who are skeptical of the opposition movement and need only a hint that it is compromised by support of the USA, to lose all hope in it.

In 1956, the Hungarians revolted against the soviet puppet government.
Reply
The US cheered the revolt on, recognizing the leaders,
encouraging them by radio and speeches. The impression grew
that the Americans would protect them from the Russians.
The soviets came in with tanks and shot some and hauled the rest off.
The US didn't do anything; the alternative being nuclear war.
It is a mistake to casualy cheer, in a fight you do not intend to join.-

You are very correct. We should be prepared to help the democracy movement if they ask. The advantage? Iran does not have a functioning nuclear weapon. Chances are they have lot of dirty bombs but not a nuclear bomb yet. If they did they would have used it already.

The US did a lot more than cheer the events as they unfolded. For years before 1956, it had actively encouraged the Hungarians to revolt, through Radio Free Europe, and probably through other means as well. Just like in Iran.
As you point out, it was understandable that they US didn't intervene; a nuclear war would have been too high a price for everybody, but it should not have incited the violence and implied that help would be on the way if only the Hungarians started a revolution. When it was all over, the Hungarians felt betrayed by the Americans.
Yes, it is a mistake to casually cheer a fight you do not intend to join, especially when it is impossible to know with any certainty what the facts on the ground are.
