40 million votes counted in 3 hours,in such a large nation as Iran isn't believable. The trouble is,that if an election result is,let say questionable,so can the recount be.It also doesn't help that many Iranians claimed they didn't have ballot papers, to vote on.This was especially true in area where the opposition was strongest. There at a minimum needs to be,"international attendants"at these recounts.Or even better a new election, with"international attendants"to see it is fair and democratic. These overseers obviously shouldn't be chosen from nations, who are friends or enemies of Iran,or it's leadership, but from nations that have no agendas of their own.

It won't make any difference. Both the religious leaders and Ahmadinejad have too much power and if it gets too scary then the opposition will just be assassinated or mysteriously disappear. Isn't that how it always is? The people shouldn't have allowed this to happen anyway. It will be a long costly battle to remove them and if they do there's no guarantee they will elect someone better. People over there just can't handle the power.
