Governor Schwarzenegger followed his duty and is allowing the courts to reach a fair and just conclusion to the Prop 8 debacle. Although he is obliged to uphold the laws of California, he is equally obligated to uphold those laws which meet US Constitutional muster. If he firmly believes that Prop 8 does not rise to that level, and it doesn't, then he is under no obligation to defend it in court.

    He just said the state won't defend it. He'll let the constitution do it's work.
    
    Voter referendums cost a lot of money. Why throw good money after bad?
