Comments for Mortgage Rates Up, Foreclosures Up, Unemployment Up - Has Obama Done Anything? »
Posted By ChangeToday 5 months, 3 weeks ago in NewsSince taking over as the President of the United States, President Obama as seen average mortgage rates rise, foreclosures continue higher and the unemployment is trending towards 10% nationally. All of these statistics have seemed to skyrocket since Obama took office. There is no doubt that former President Bush has a lot to do with these scenarios, but shouldn’ t we start to see some type of improvement. Not only have we NOT seen improvement, we have seen the downward trend in the economy accelerate.

We ARE only 5 months into the Obama presidency, which is why i give no credence to garbage such as this article. The man is working day and night to fulfill his campaign promises, and just because he couldn't UN-DO everything W did over 8 years in 5 months, all you all do is condemn him..
Reply
I'm used to repugs turning on their own, but libbies generally stick together and give each other the benefit of the doubt. Obama said in his campaign speeches that it would take years, years, not months, not weeks, not days. but you all are wanting immediate gratification, and if you don't get it you turn on him. Enough of this!

Who knows orn, this mess may not be fixable.. Bush bragged about how he was going to have us so embedded in the Middle East that the next president wouldn't be able to get us out, and looks like he meant what he was saying too.. Another thing, why do you all think that Bush and Cheney are on the trail trying to discredit Obama... Because they knew the damage they did, and they don't want to go to prison for it.. I think they both planned to leave the country after their pillaging was over, but after it was all said and done, they didn't really want to, so now to be able to stay here, they have to discredit Obama..

Liberals, don't fall for this stuff, give this man a chance and stop posting articles like this, the cons will post enough of them, without us helping them out!

Oh, I have always been in favor of Obama making changes, I just think it is interesting to play devil's advocate to get some information from you guys. Propeller has a very bright user base, one of the best on the internet. Why not utilize your intelligence to get some feedback on issues, right?

Before bushboy left office it was predicted that unemployment would hit at least 10%,maybe higher...
Reply
As engineer said, the right wants him to fail and no doubt will try everything they can do to bring that about..Look at the bushboys legacy and it seems that the right likes failure more than success.Nothing would hurt them more than to see Obama succeed...The unfortunate thing is that they will try to make it so he doesn't at the expense of our country.-

Fiftynine how true those words are you wrote , they would like nothing more then to see him fail but hes got a big surprise for all of them , he well Not Fail and it might take a little time but America well be back on her feet. Obama is doing everything possible and he well do it.
Reply
And the ones who want to see him fail well be crying like bays because their wish didnt come true.
I have faith in Obama, I have seen him stay up all night working just to keep his promise that he made us. Bush never cared about one promise all he wanted was the name and the title that came with it. Bad boy Bush, Bad, he is the one who failed and failed his country and the People of America.-

there is no doubt Obama will put every bit of effort into fixing this struggling economy and all of us can only hope that he succeeds. if he fails; it hurts every single person in America so we all need to get behind him and do what we can to get this thing turned around!

I am not as worried am not so much worried about Obama's attempts to solve the financial problem as I am with his increase spending for his projects.
Reply
I blame BOTH parties for the problem. Bush was in charge and we have had a dem.. corgress for 2 years when it hit.
I think most independent parties lean toward a conservative view in spending. This is what our country needs. Not more debt. They are usually more central on other issues. Vote in independents in 2010 and vote out the 2 party power house.-

It is the spending that most people are worried about; inflation is very possible in the future and if that is the case, we could see another recession right after we get out of this one. But, the old saying is, you have to spend money to make money right?

That old saw only works for a business entity trying to make a profit which the government is not a business and does not try to make a profit. It the government was in the business to make money then the government would pay attention to the bottom line. The government is not trying to make a profit the government just confiscates and spends the people's money. This is the old saw you need to examine "you can't spend your way out of debt." Btw, did any of you useful idiots take and pass any economics courses in college? High school, maybe?

From the article:
"There is no doubt that former President Bush has a lot to do with these scenarios, but shouldn’ t we start to see some type of improvement. Not only have we NOT seen improvement, we have seen the downward trend in the economy accelerate."
I consider G.W. Bush and Obama (due to his encouragement) to be the "pyromaniacs" who started this "Fiscal Fire", with G.W. Bush's endorsement and signing-off on the initial T.A.R.P. bail-out late in 2008.
I consider Obama to be "THE ONE" who actually believed he could DOUSE this same "Fiscal Fire" by pouring GASOLINE on it; i.e., the "Stimulus Package", et al.
BOTH of these were (and are) the acts of two Socialistic Fiscal Fools. And the conflagration continues to consume Our Constitution and Our Nation.
GOD help us!-

Due to its length, my reply will be in two section:,
You ask: "What are your suggestions?"
My suggestion at this time is to encourage what many States are doing in the way of "reactivating" the 9TH and 10TH Amendments to our Constitution, by taking back the rights usurped by the Federal Government from the States and the People since the time of President Woodrow Wilson from 1913 to 1921, and President Franklin Delano Roosevelt from 1933 to 1945. To this day, other Presidents and certain Supreme Court Decisions, in direct violation of "stare decisis", have served to erode the 9TH and 10TH Amendments.
I would ask you personally, and the Propeller Community in general, to call your State Legislators and request they contact the "Tenth Amendment Center" at the following link:
http://www.tenthamendmentcenter.com/
From there I would ask everyone to see what needs to be done in order to get their respective State involved in this worthy movement.
It is the only way I see (short of some VERY UNPLESANT ALTERNATIVES) of giving, once again, the States their rightful place under our supposedly Federalist System. Until this is accomplished, every other "solution" is meaningless.-

Definition of Federalism
Fed"er*al*ism\, n. [Cf. F. f['e]d['e]ralisme.] the principles of Federalists or of federal union.
Webster's Revised Unabridged Dictionary, © 1996, 1998 MICRA, Inc.
federalism
"A system of government in which power is divided between a national (federal) government and various regional governments. As defined by the United States Constitution, federalism is a fundamental aspect of American government, whereby the states are not merely regional representatives of the federal government, but are granted independent powers and responsibilities. With their own legislative branch, executive branch, and judicial branch, states are empowered to pass, enforce, and interpret laws, provided they do not violate the Constitution. This arrangement not only allows state governments to respond directly to the interests of their local populations, but also serves to check the power of the federal government. Whereas the federal government determines foreign policy, with exclusive power to make treaties, declare war, and control imports and exports, the states have exclusive power to ratify the Constitution. Most governmental responsibilities, however, are shared by state and federal governments: both levels are involved in such public policy issues as taxation, business regulation, environmental protection, and civil rights."
http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/Federalism
I would further advise repealing the 16TH and 17TH Amendments to Our Constitution:
Amendment 16 - Status of Income Tax Clarified. Ratified 2/3/1913.
"The Congress shall have power to lay and collect taxes on incomes, from whatever source derived, without apportionment among the several States, and without regard to any census or enumeration."
Amendment 17 - Senators Elected by Popular Vote. Ratified 4/8/1913.
"The Senate of the United States shall be composed of two Senators from each State, elected by the people thereof, for six years; and each Senator shall have one vote. The electors in each State shall have the qualifications requisite for electors of the most numerous branch of the State legislatures.
When vacancies happen in the representation of any State in the Senate, the executive authority of such State shall issue writs of election to fill such vacancies: Provided, That the legislature of any State may empower the executive thereof to make temporary appointments until the people fill the vacancies by election as the legislature may direct.
This amendment shall not be so construed as to affect the election or term of any Senator chosen before it becomes valid as part of the Constitution."
http://www.usconstitution.net/const.html#Am16
I believe the repeal of the 16TH and 17TH Amendments will have to wait until the movement of primary importance is successful: Restoring the 9TH and 10TH Amendments to their RIGHTFUL place in our Federalist System.

The money-grubbers are frustrated by the dearth of easy money investment opportunities... it might be years before the equity I have in my house goes back up to equal the investment I made in it in the year 2000... now if I hadn't got so much cash out of it, by refinancing it so many times since then...

Bush tried to regulate Fannie and Freddie but the Democrats like Dodd and Barney Frank would not let him.
Reply
The democrats felt that anyone should be able to buy a house regardless of their income and credit history.
Bush tried to prevent all of this.
Dems. stopped him.
That caused the housing crisis that we are in now.
Now Obama's biggest promise is about to be broken.
You know the one.
"If you make less than 250,000.00 a year your taxes will not be raised. Instead, you will get a check."
Now he wants a Federal tax on everything that you buy.
Liar liar pants on fire. -

so...you drive your car over a cliff and then expect to be back up and running in 5 months. i'd say that's unrealistic.

it's also unrealistic to think we're going to solve the many debacles left by 30 years of republican imperialism in so short a time. in case it slipped anyone's notice, bush left one h!ll of a mess.
we'll be lucky if after 8 years of obama, and another 8 of clinton or biden, we'll have some of these problems sorted out. -

Employ wrong in getting virtuous and good as the result...and you will see Oboma continually fail, he started wrong, and all others will too, and partly due to two words, Hath and shewn, of the Declaration of Independence. Both words are archaic.
Reply
Archaism, the use of a form of speech or writing that is no longer current .

Words like Unvbuntu are not archaic...example (ref:)http://www.ubuntu.com/ -

The real problems started when Democrats took over Congress in 2006. They have no idea what they're doing. President Bush was doing a great job, and didn't need to be front and center of every magazine. He was doing his job, not posing shirtless for trashy magazines. After the Dems took over, Bush's hands were tied. They made him into a "Lame Duck" president, then proceeded to blame him for everything. Our family was doing fine while Conservatives were running Congress. Wake up America, before it's too late. We need to get Pelosi, Reid, Frank, and the Chicago mob out of office. Probably should do something about Obama too. He's in way over his head, and not a clue as to what to do.

All the problems didn't just appear as if by magic overnite, idiots. They ramped up over years during the Bush administration. It'll take awhile for the fix to ramp up too. The global economy is a juggernaut. It doesn't turn on a dime. It's kind of like turning those bigass trailerhomes you live in. Don't all you right wing crazies go trying to wiggle out of your boss' screwups by blaming Obama after only a few months.

CHRISTOPHER DODD and BARNEY FRANK sould be doing jail time. These two characters were largely responsible for the large number of foreclosures and yet they are not held accountable. It's easier to be ignorant and blame Bush. The Democrats don't care how their tax dollars are spent from what i see. Obama has done a lot of gum flapping and reckless spending.

If i surrounded myself like Obama with brainless wonders such as Pelosi,Biden and Reid, anyone could look like a genius. It is dangerous to put so much faith in one person as you will usually get burned. I guess the abortion on demand paid by United States taxpayers is what makes this president so wonderful? Kill our own and let the illegals flow into the country at will.

Get a grip, Libs!
Reply
The democrats have a substantial majority in the House and very close to a filibuster proof majority in the Senate. They can ram anything through that they want. They have shown that they can do this with the passage of the so-called stimulus bill, passed virtually unread and in violation of the House's own rules.
If they (the democrats) cannot get anything done it is because some of the democrats in the House and in the Senate are beginning to recognize that the party is being led by an inexperienced, incompetent buffoon in the White House that wants his programs jammed through without scrutiny.-

I thought that was the main complaint of libs, that too much of the republican agenda was enacted. Are you implying that republicans have a better idea of their agenda whereas the democrats are unorganized and ignorant of their own programs?

I get a kick out of anyone who believes that the government can use our own money to help our own economy. They take taxes from us, then give it back as a "stumulus" package, all the while going deeper into debt, since the cost of running the country hasn't changed at all - the money has to come from somewhere, so our solution is to go deeper into debt. Obama is as worthless as Bush - not only is it about time the Repubs start to understand that Bush was a disaster, it is also time for the Dems to realize Obama is NOT the savior - he is just another corrupt politician, like all the rest. This is America - we have the best politicians money can buy! You know what will help our economy? MANUFACTURING. Let's get out there and produce something for ourselves, America, before just the idea of it becomes a "novel concept"... Buying American-made goods is also crucial. Lastly, we need to keep more of our money here, instead of sending it overseas to the Persian Gulf and Japan. Say what you want, those are the only ways to make our country strong again. If the U.S. was a small business, we would have been bankrupt or bought-out long ago.
