I'm affraid that the Obama administration will window dress to make it look appealing. The reality is, The Obama administration's left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing.

my observation is that obama's left AND right hands both know what they are doing.

i support single payer national health care. this stupid story from a conservative think-tank doesn't mention the tens of thousands of americans waiting on lists for surgeries or organs right here in the us, much less the thousands of americans suffering and dying from no health care at all. add to that the insured whose claims are denied.

this article is just more spin to profit the health industry.

I guess I'll just never understand the liberal mentality. They always support the very thing they claim to hate. GE and and a handful of providers will gain everything and will get richer.

Here's a concept... why not adopt an illegal alien and pay for his/her insurance out of your own pocket instead of having government do the dirty work for you. You can contribute to society, help keep health cost down, and assume personal responsibility. You wouldn't have to worry about being liberal anymore, You can say "Hey, I'm liberal and look what I do!"

      Who could argue with that!

Here's a concept... YOU are already paying for the healthcare of illegal aliens. You have been for many years and will continue to do so. It's not about illegal immigration, it's about health care for Americans. When the only health care available is emergency rooms you just have to pay more. For most things a cheap clinic of urgent care facility will do just fine or maybe better but those without insurance or cash are turned away and sent to emergency rooms which are much more expensive. You are paying for it NOW both through taxes and through increased insurance premiums.

        Who could argue with that.

National Center for Public Analysis = Conservative "free market" think tank

Freedom Works Foundation = Dick Armey's think tank

These organizations have political agendas to promote. I will take their "facts" and opinions with a whole shaker of salt.

I'm much more inclined to believe our fellow Propellerheads from Canada and England any day.

Propped the article since I believe the topic should be discussed and not put on the back burner.
FTA- 1 to 2 percent of the population is on a waiting list, as compared to 40 million who have no insurance, I won't even use the 40 million number since it could be an exageration, but a more conservative number of 8.5 million which was a number presented in another story on this topic, represents around 2.5 percent of your population, just a rough estimate. So how long does a person with no medical insurance have to wait for medical service.
As for people dying while wating for medical help or surgery, this point is not true. We live in a town of 1800 people and a woman in her early fifties with no previous heart problems went into the doctor at 5:30 pm complaining of chest pains, was sent to the hospital for an ekg which was inconclusive by 10 pm she was in the health science centre in Winnipeg which is a three hour drive so that they could find out what the problem was, she was told that if it was something serious she would likely have surgery immediately. The reason i gave this example is because I have seen it happen at lease four time in the last two years and it does show that if it is priority others who are not priority will get bumped back which I has also seen with a family member. When you mention the number 900,000 people on waiting lists you have to realize that some of those people are waiting for such things a surgery on things like getting a mole removed or surgery on a obstucted nasal cavity.
As for the part about unlimited resources, no, the medical plan up here has to work within a budget, if it had a blank cheque I doubt that anyone would have to wait for anything.

I wonder how long you would have to wait if the emergency room wasn't filled with people with injuries and ailments that could easily be treated at an outpatient urgent care clinic? Those without insurance are turned away and sent to emergency rooms which have become the primary care providers for the uninsured.

I've been to Canada and Australia and asked about health care. Canadians liked theirs but Aussies complained--None wanted to trade with US. Also I needed hospital care in Australia--Didn't wait at all.
