Change Takes Time; The Economy Cannot Be Fixed in Six Months »
Posted By ChangeToday 5 months ago in NewsOver the last few weeks, all we have heard is how bad the numbers are getting. Well, who was the president that caused all the numbers? It is not like the first few months in office allowed President Obama to increase the unemployment rate. Just because some of the numbers are getting worse does not mean that it is not going to get better. The old saying is “ it has to get worse before it gets better.” President Obama is doing everything he can, working day and night, to get this country back to where it was before it was turned into a disaster.

That is the liberal mantra. All companies are just greedy. Such a lame brain concept. Ignore reality and just live in the illusion that you people create. Most people operate out of a concept of doing a good job and helping others. The best CEO's challenge their employees to do the best they can for the benefit of all. Create a better product for their customers and make sure the customer is happy with their product and services. Competition with others makes sure they can't charge too much. The object of any company is to make a decent profit for the owners or stockholders. Most of the stock in in 401Ks. But you turn this into greed. Very sad.

jaern, i think you're right. But in times past, the auto industry had high enough sales for the CEO's and such to be able to skim the profits without it really affecting anything/.. Not so anymore, every dime is missed but they keep taking millions for themselves. Then, rather than give back to keep the industry going, they just let it sink! Greed is the only word that describes it, but i wish there was a harsher one to for them.

The jobs left this country because the companies were given tax breaks?
You've got it backwards - companies leave the U.S. because we have the second highest corporate tax rate in the world.
Tax breaks for companies here in the U.S. KEEP business here. -

There is the liberal mind set. The problem is the taxes on businesses that make to more profitable to have offshore people do the work. Raise them more and they will go places where the taxes are much lower. Ireland is booming because they have a top tax rate of 12.5% on businesses. Many are going there to take advantage of that. Raise our taxes here and the Irish will thank us.

Quit giving tax breaks to the very companys that send our jobs to other country's.Those that do..charge them higher taxes and tariffs than our friends pay..because make no mistake about this. Those company's that have sent our jobs out of the country are not our friends.

It took the Republicans 8 years to destroy it and now the idiot cons expect Obama to fix it overnight. Ain't gonna happen and it will take even longer if they continue to be obstructionists rather than getting on the Peoples team! They are STILL selling out to the lobbyists, etc.

It isn't fair to blame one or the other. Both parties are guilty. They both take the kickbacks from the lobbyists. In fact once they're in office they're all pretty much the same. It was a Dem that signed the NAFTA Agreement which sucked out millions of jobs and made the corporations richer. Bush...well we all know how bad he was but never the less...what did the Dems do to stop him ?
Reply
The important issue is what is Obama doing ? He isn't moving to get out of Iraq the way that he promised. He bailed out the rich and so far hasn't done much to give relief to the middle class ( what's left of it ). He's dragging his feet on reforming health care and I have yet to see any jobs in my area that his stimulus plan was supposed to create. It's pretty obvious where his priorities are and they are not with the working class. Six months is not a long time I realize but it was enough time to push through what he wanted and the rest will have to wait.
In the meantime we will get by without national health care. We will be in the middle east forever. Our jobs will never come back. We can suck wind once our unemployment benefits run out. The taxes will be going up again. He's already trying to tax our health care premiums and he's already raised the cigarett tax. He found the time to do that. So far...I don't see any signs that he's going to be any different from the others except that he's always on the TV . -

Jebobo What is the matter Did you sleep, or were you stoned for the last eight years.Or maybe you got one of those illegal sub-prime loans the democrats were flooding the market with.Maybe you can't get people to make part of your payments,People are like.Obama will fix that soon, can't have foreclosures on homes no matter what kinda crooked deals took place.Anyway the next three years are going to be a trial run for socialism,we'll see if enough people are willing sell their soul for a loaf of bread

Hello, the Democrats didn't flood the market with sub prime loans. Most of the loans that are in default were written while the Republicans had total control. At this time they could have gotten anything done they wanted about the economy, emigration, or anything at all. They had all the power. They did nothing.

This economy is not going to be fixed in any short period of time. This mess took a while to make and it will take a while to sort itself out. It can't be fixed by the government alone. People have to change their attitudes and learn to live within their means. We need to invest in new products that are made here. We must reduce our dependence on oil. It's a tall order and we will need to come together to do it. It's time to stop the bickering and move forward.

Finally, a good positive submission that shows our President in a better light!

Obama is taking some of the same methods that FDR took to bring the country out of the depression, and it's going to take time. It's not his fault, he didn't create this mess, but he was elected to fix it, let him do his job!-

If we were just to concentrate all of our efforts on the infrastructure...Bridges,roads,damns,schools,utili... and tell the contractors that everything that can be made here must be bought from here. Our Steel mills would start producing again, our mining would increase, heavy equipment manufacturing would increase and every associated business in this country would boom..housing,food,clothing,..everything, and we would be rebuilding a new manufacturing base in the process which would be able to start exporting goods again instead of the deficit in trade we see...That is what i see in Obamas plan ...But the key is that these things have to be produced here !! Not imported from China,India,or any other country...period !!

Unemployment would drop to low single digits.Combine that with a health care system that takes insurance company s out of the decision making and makes it affordable to everyone, immigration laws that work, the securing of our borders and the fining of company's that hire illegals...Who knows...? If we all got on board and started thinking of America and the "legal" citizens that have made us great in the past, more than we do China or Pakistan and cheap labor, we can damn sure make us great again in the future.

Obama and his fanboyz keep repeating the mantra that everything is Bush's fault. Obama fought tooth and nail to take on these problems and so far things are getting worse. Not only because Obama's socialist reactions are scaring private investors but also because of his plans to drive the economy deeper into the ditch with his massive increase of the federal deficit and national debt.

Oh well ... this is a common malady of the Modern Republican.
You know ... listening to FOX Broadcasting, SBC, Rush Limbaugh, Glenn Beck, and/or the hundreds of similar anti-Obama media outlets are a powerful drug.

In the first honest thing that we have heard from a president was Obama telling us that it was going to get worse before it gets better...Imagine that...a president that told the truth about the economy instead of the bush cheney rants of how everything is just fine...

Of course the economy can't be fixed in 6 months. What that simpleton Obama did was to spend all those trillions for nothing! The economy would have fixed itself given time, and we wouldn't have all this debt that could and will bring on another depression in a few years. He's an idiot and so are the people who voted for him!

Probably not..that takes more than one brain cell on each side of the sphere.
