The verdict is still out whether Obama made the right move by not denouncing actions taken against the Iranian people until after the decision was made to keep Mahmoud Ahmadinejad as the leader. The absent voice of the United States didn't prevent the Russians from pledging support to Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

The Russians acted quickly--firmly--and without a doubt wanted and made a difference on who was to hold the leadership of Iran! They wanted: Mahmoud Ahmadinejad--
When it comes to the Iranian leader and what country did or did not pledge their support for him, just might cause A MAJOR UPHEAVAL ON ANY POTENTIAL OBAMA'S RECONCILIATION TOWARD IRAN! -

Honestly I hope the protests stop, for the simple reason that I don't wish to see any more people killed for rights that we think that they have and yet in reality they do not. The people of Iran are a well educated group of people and can find other ways of making a change in the country and also the political picture. The change that will happen in Iran will not happen by the rest of the world continuing to push the country to the outside of the circle. If we the people of the world abandon the country of Iran it will be the people who suffer, and by continuing to work with a government that we may not like, it allows us to take away from Ahmadinejad one of his tools that he does use on some of the poorer and not so well educated people.

I fully agree with you here. It's the people of Iran (and NOT the CIA, the FBI, the Russians, the Israelis, etc.) who elect the leadership they want and deserve, just like the Palestinians who voted for Hams or the Lebanese who voted for Hezbollah. It's their RIGHT to elect the leaders they want and it's their OBLIGATION to accept the responsibility for the consequences.
