Batchelor: Tehran Scream - Her Name Was Neda »
Posted By pc25 6 months, 1 week ago in NewsYou can study this until the scream. No one can study it afterward. This is a second and longer version of what I posted Saturday evening 20, this version recorded from an additional phone: both videos are now all over Europe and Asia. The Twelvers are doomed by the slaughter of Neda Salehi Agha-Soltan, 27.

Shot by a sniper........I guess this is the dialogue that Obama referred to in his speech this morning.

The Iranian people are trying to have a debate about their future. Some in the Iranian government are trying to avoid that debate by accusing the United States and others outside of Iran of instigating protests over the elections. These accusations are patently false and absurd."
However the July 4th invitation to the Iranian Government still stands. God forbid he should insult his new buddy Ahmadinjehad. He didn't even mention her by name. This man sullies the office that he holds. He did however seize upon the opportunity to remind people "I am the President". Carville was right if Hillary gave him one of her cajones they would both have 2. -

I haven't watched the video of her death, the still photos were more than I wanted to see and as a nurse I'm not squeamish.

As horrific as the visual images of Neda's death, more horrifying are the rows of graves pre-prepared for the victims of the violence. I wonder if the death toll is higher than we know. Reminds me of the holocaust for some reason....ironic.-

Those empty graves tell the story of what the government of Iran is planning better than any words. I know freedom is never free and always purchased with blood but it is difficult to see innocent people gunned down and beaten knowing I can't do a thing about it.

None of what is happening in Iran can be justifiably used to impugn Obama's words, actions, or lack of actions. It's happening in Iran, not here, and not at the White House. While I've long concluded Obama will be happily continuing the worst of Bush's damage to our country, the fact remains he at least has political skills that are orders of magnitude greater than Bush's, and thus far he has evinced the kind of measured thoughtfulness toward Iran's horror-fest that a pugnacious buffoon like Bush couldn't manage until the end of time. So, giving him his due, even as Obama destroys our economy here at home, I do support his current diplomatic posture toward Iran. I only hope it lasts long enough to help deliver a positive outcome.

But that said, as for the young girl being slaughtered on video, I won't watch something like that. I don't even wish to specifically comment on it, other than to say in general that this is what people in power do when their power is under imminent threat from those over whom their power is wielded. Hardly unique to Iran -- pick a people; pick a government....pick any time or place in recorded history. The slaughter of the innocents. It IS our history.

Jas, you're right. Obama should just sit there like a bump on a log. The last time a Democrat got us into a war was Vietnam and we saw how well we did there....

But seriously, when the President of France shows more balls than the President of the United States, there is a problem with the courage and integrity of our President. He needed to condemn the violent attacks on unarmed civilians from day one. He didn't. His wishy-washy response for the first few days was terrible. Is this this idea of leading the free world? Attacks on freedom of speech and the man is out golfing?
As to Bush, I didn't care for the man as President. I do know that he would have made a strong comment of support from the start. That's the difference between a President and a community organizer.
