This is not at all surprising to me, I get a headache just from second hand smoke.

Hmmmm, I never get headaches. I get headaches if I haven't had a smoke in a few hours though. Goes away once I light up though.

My left ear hisses so loud, it often hurts, yet I have been a day without a cigarette, and did not chew the gum, or use the patches the VA gave me...I actually plan to smoke again on down the line...after an operation again on my right femur...that eazes the prospect that I fail...I plan on failing I guess? LOL

I quit smoking some years back after smoking 45 years? I never once got a head ache. Several years ago Coffee was touted as no good for you, now its a boon. These surveys and articles are written by persons who have nothing to do, don't investigate facts, and arbitrarily make outrageous claims. Smoking will give you COPD, Heart disease complications and other respiratory ailments. Thats a fact. Head aches-nonsense, articles like the above give me headaches.

I began smoking at the age of 15 and quit when I was 28, concluding that, although I found it very enjoyable, it was not in my long term health to continue. At the time, the cancer risk wasn't conclusive, but I was concerned about the link with emphysema.

Interestingly, I found that tobacco was beneficial in one respect. Upon reaching puberty, I occasionally suffered from abdominal cramps (I'm male so it wasn't menstruation), requiring a doctor to visit (they still that back then) and administer a shot or two of demorral.

Once I began smoking, I never had the abdominal pains again. Some years later, I concluded that I had a spasmodic colon and that the recommended medical treatment was smoking tobacco.

I have observed that when some people exhibit anger and frustration, lighting up a cigarette calms them down. So, perhaps, smoking also saves lives. A co-worker I knew frequently wanted to strangle one of his bosses; he would go on a smoking break and was then able to deal with her.

I've suffered from migraines most of my life. I smoked for about a total of 14 years. Every time I tried to quit, I would start to get a headache, so I used that as an excuse NOT to quit. The fear of a migraine kept me lighting up. It was a vicious cycle. If I smoked too much, I'd end up in bed with a disabling migraine. Finally, after watching my mother go through chemo and radiation treatment for throat cancer, I decided to stop smoking. It's almost been two months....headaches are less severe and less often, I have more energy and I sleep better. But everyone is different.

Looks like they have found another way to scare the smokers. I smoked for years and never got a headache.
I think if the numbers were gone into it would read. Those who are prone to migraine attacks may get more when they smoke. Everybody else, smoking stops you from getting migraine attacks.
