I'm sorry that I don't have a one liner to comete with "They may act to slow new methodologies from coming out for needed treatments". THAT is what will stick in the minds of reactionaries. This darned critical thinking is so wordy, it gets in the way of progress.

There was a really bad accident on the interstate during rush hour yesterday and traffic was backed up for hours. We all KNOW it was Bush's fault so you don't even have to say it -

Your ignorance abounds. You expose it with your rant and this write does the same. Lawsuits filed equals taking a drug off of the market. Not whether or not those lawsuits are proved in court.

It already takes millions to try and bring out a new drug. This idiocy of not telling the government the side effects is silly. Just go and pick up a Physicians Desk Reference at a library and look up a drug in it. You will be inundated with all kinds of things about the drug including different side effects.
This writer thinks that there has been no oversight for the drug companies but that is absolutely wrong. There are regulations about all of the controls that they have to go through before the FDA allows the drug on the market. This author does not mention those things.
Jordan seems to think that the government does the research instead of the drug companies. What does the government need with a billion dollar laboratory to test the drugs. This adds another layer of hoops that drug companies have to jump through to get a drug to market. Is the government going to do the research on people instead of the drug companies or in addition to them. Each hoop costs the drug company time and money to get a drug to market. And that means higher costs to the patient.-

Wow, you really are a fool if you think that drug companies are without the potential to cause serious harm either by poor research practice, or hiding the existence of rare side affects. I see this is another subject you've failed to educate yourself on.
