"This is almost like, 'I don't give a damn, the country's going to Hell in a handbasket, I just want out of here,'" Limbaugh said. "[Sanford] had just tried to fight the stimulus money coming to South Carolina. He didn't want any part of it; he lost the battle. He said, 'What the hell. I mean, the federal government's taking over -- what the hell, I want to enjoy life.'"
The problem with Limbaugh's argument is that Sanford began his affair a year ago, when he thought McCain might even ask him to be his Vice President, according to e-mails sent to his mistress.-

OK, that is effing hilarious. "The stimulus package didn't go my way. I HAVE to fly to Argentina and have a five day fsckathon. I didn't want to, I'm a god-fearing christian, but the liberals made me do it."

Right. When you examine the issue carefully, you'll see there was no other option.
If I'm ever caught in a seedy hotel with a t!tty dancer, a bong and an empty bottle of Jose Cuervo, that'll be my story, too. Sometimes politics can force to you take drastic action. -

Progressive, I think Limbaugh was counting on mental midgets on the left to think he wasn't being satirical and run with the story, creating even more publicity for his show. Congratulations on increasing the listenership once again. How's that bait taste?

Okay I problem with the title of the article. "Who caused..." No one but Sanford cheated on his wife and family. Nobody but Sanford lied to his wife, family, staff and the state of SC. Nobody but Sanford decided to lie about his whereabouts. Nobody but Sanford when giving a press release apologizes not to his wife and family first but his mistress, staff, the state os SC and then his wife and family. Nobody but Sanford is to blame. NOBODY.

He belongs to the party the supposedly is about "Christian Family Values." His actions and statements since this broke are anything but. -

On behalf of gays throughout the United States, we apologize for our marriages in Massachusetts, Iowa, and Connecticut. Our soon to happen marriages in Vermont, New Hampshire and Maine can take a momentary pause while the Sanford family regroups. We will try to enjoy wedded bliss more quietly so as not to disturb South Carolina's first family.
Reply
Our apologies to all in South Carolina, and condolences to the Sanford family.

Limbaugh used the same excuse when answering to his own drug addiction demons. I'm the victim of this terrible addiction, it's not my fault. It's amazing how self righteous people are destroyed by their own behaviors but it's always something or someone elses fault.
Reply
Hey Limbaugh, If you know something is wrong and you do it anyway YOU are to blame, you are a victim of yourself. I think you cons call it PERSONAL RESPONSIBILITY. -

Personally, I think there are two shames to be mentioned in all of this:
Reply
1. The shame that belongs to Governor Sanford, rightly following his actions that reveal his obvious lacks of personal morality and sound political judgment.
2. The shame that belongs to the LDM (LapDog Media) for pursuing this matter gleefully, because Governor Sanford's actions provide a seemingly perfect diversion for them (because it's perceived as being harmful to the Republican Party) away from the dismal state of the nation right now.
And I'm not talking about the results of the actions of GWB-- that's old news, even though BHO's willing acomplices on the media will be regurgitating them whenever it suits their purposes and agenda for the next 30 years or so.
I'm referring to the results of the actions that BHO has taken since taking up residence in Our House, which ABC TV News mistakenly refers to as "His House." Results like the Stock Market responding negatively to BHO's statements of policy and his numerous (and unconstitutional) Presidential fiats and power grabs.
Anyone with money invested in Stocks and Stock-based Funds liking the "Hope & Change" you've been seeing in the Stock Market the last few months?????
(Oh, I take part of that back-- "Hope" is probably all that some 401K Accounts have "on their side" right now......)
If you don't believe me, just "google" the words "stock market down Obama"........
And, despite the squeals of protest from the lefties (sure to follow this comment here on Propeller), I will consider all "negs" and subsequent disparaging comments posted after this comment as evidences of an "on target" hit in this matter!-

Nice waste of words! You avoid the entire central argument. Does Rush's argument have any merit whatsoever? You can't possibly argue it does other than argue that when Republicans are put under stress they respond by running away from their office and screwing their mistresses. I mean are we supposed to believe Sanford began the affair because Obama at the time was the likely Democratic nominee?
Reply
And the fact you blame Obama for the stock market shows your complete foolishness. Bush's actions (or more correctly inactions) are hardly old hat. The damage done will resonate for decades. In fact I would suggest this whole thing started with Reagan decades ago. He championed deregulation and if you add back in the tax cuts he made we aren't in anywhere the present federal fiscal shape. I grew up in the sixties and I don't recall the wealthiest individuals struggling or lacking in investment funds? Why were these cuts necessary? Were they not the catalyst for the current federal situation? The only time that the average American has benefitted since was the tech boom which falsely inflated stock values. Those gains have all been given back.
Greed was the simple reason for the free market collapse. They rang the turnip dry. And for awhile they got blood out of it. The fact
I don't think I will ever understand the current Republican position. Or if there really is such an entity? -

You're kidding right? Michael Jackson's death is the only thing keeping Sanford out of the headlines again today. This isn't crap, it is about a governor shirking his duties for days. Failing to properly notify anybody of his whereabouts. Honestly and truthfully committing "dereliction of duty". There can be no other conclusion. In fact he tried to detour anyone who was looking for him. It's about a man who championed family values showing his true colors. And you find that acceptable? And then expect any foolish argument you try to put in its place to be taken seriously?

Two demerits for mixing metaphors.
But beyond that, don't you think the "reps" are doing a pretty good job of soiling THEMSELVES? The media is just reporting on it, and that is, after all their job.

Hey stupacrats I see you are in a cheerful mood. There is no doubt that Mark Sanford got caught in something that over took him.At first I thought it was lust, then I thought He's a governor he wouldn't do this if not for outside influence. Then it hit me.Hillary said that Bill couldn't have done what he was accused of,but if its proven it will be trouble.Well the dress test was positive, and the real cause, and effect turned out to be,"A Vast Right Wing Conspiracy."Who would have thought.

Right...who would have thought that another Republican pillar of virtue, one who self-righteously called for Clinton's resignation, would himself be taking trips at taxpayers' expense to visit his mistress--going AWOL on his state and thinking no one would notice?

I rather think he got caught in someONE. And we really aren't sure who overtook whom, although given that he was willing to fly to Argentina for it, I doubt his paramour had to backheel him and beat him to the ground.

Intruding into politician's personal lives was started by Republican's attacked on Bill Clinton. The Republicans tried to make Clinton the poster boy for indecency and moral indescretions.
Reply
How easy people forget the Republicans started the intruding, gossiping and explotation of politicians personal lives. Infidelity and sexual behavior are family and personal issues. Before Republicans started attacking Clinton there was a boundary people didn't cross. People didn't talk about politician's sex lives, that was left for cheap gossip tabloids that people with class didn't waste their time or money to read.
Thanks to the Republican party sexual indescretions of politicians is daily news. We have become a crude, classless society that is entertained by others sex life. Thank you Republicans. -

Okay, with repugs you've got a point (albeit a small one since you were already calling us names when that one hit) but neocons isn't even our term. Granted it doesn't apply to all conservatives, but is this a case of the pot calling the kettle a rusty corroded son of a b**ch.

My Fellow Americans: Whoa what jealousy you Liberals are expressing. You just wish you could have a flaming hot woman from the land down under Mexico. I see foaming at the mouths, I see beads of sweat running down the kissers, I see the un-thinkable rising in the South Forty. Don't you Damocrats just wish you could land a babe like that or any babe for that matter. Good for old Sanford because if the pot at home don't keep you hot than the pot in the plot should burn your feathers. If it's good enough for a Damocrat it should be good enough for a Republican. That's life boys and girls in the new changing America. I'm sure Obama would approve of this new Liberal Agenda. What are illegal aliens for anyway. The Real American
