Posted By btatman22 4 months, 1 week ago in Political OpinionEmboldened by recent successes of statist-dictators Hugo Chavez, Fidel Castro and Barack Obama, Honduras president Manuel Zelaya sought to hold a referendum on whether he should be able to run for President of Honduras indefinitely. His ruse didn’t exactly turn out the way he planned, as almost every Honduran citizen and politico was against the idea.

Congratulations to Honduran people on coup d'etat and restoration of military rule???
Reply
Where exactly were the people on this thing?
You DO know this isn't the first military coup in Honduras? Or are you saying that THIS military coup is the will of the people as opposed to all the previous military coups there? If so I'd like to hear why. Is it on the basis of the piece of misinformation posted by the author, which is replete with lies and falsehoods?
Here is an incomplete list of the falsehoods,
1. Barack Obama a dictator.
2. Zelaya is a dictator even though he couldn't even fire the head of Honduras's military.
3. Wanting to hold a non-binding referendum on whether the voters would like to vote on a constitutional amendment voiding presidential term limits later this year is a sign of dictatorial rule even though many democracies have no term limits for their heads of state.
4. When a dictator wants to implement a particular policy they conduct a referendum.
5. Zelaya was taken to Venezuela despite that AP article, which is cited as source states that he was taken to Costa Rica.
6. Military coup d'etat is a representation of people's will, whereas holding a popular referendum is not.

Conservativism is a mountain that rises from a swamp.
Reply
Call the swamp weakness , or liberalism ,
or any name for what pulls things down into the mud of decay
and surrender.
But the mountain rises up .
And on the lower reaches of the mountain
are villages, where men remember what a man is.
Their word is good;
their doors unlocked;
their guns at hand.
And higher on the Conservative Mountain,
- are lonelier places,
where men wander free with iron faces.
They have no laws that do not come from outside themselves;
yet claim the stars as their court.
And higher, in the cold emptyness of free thought
where only eagles climb,
stands an iron statue of man,
gazing down over the world;
leaning on a long rifle
- and watching; waiting.
American Conservatives are good people.
They seldom lie;
nor tolerate lies.
If they sometimes forget to be conservative;
- they remember again.
No conservative will pos the lie of this story
that the President of the US is akin to any dictator;
Only posers, pretending. -

So you don't think Obama is a dictator? well that's odd when you consider that Sen.Byrd does based on Obama's employment of czars to supplant the normal chain of government.

The Romanovs employed 18 Czars in 304 years from 1613 to 1917, Obama already has that number beat and it has only been 6 months.-

Manuel Zelaya simply wants to be a leftist dictator like his good friend Chavez and the Castro brothers

Under the constitution in Honduras he could only serve one term - he wanted a lifetime tenure
Now Chavez is threatening military action in Honduras to reinstate his friend

Chavez threatens military action over Honduras coup
The Honduran army ousted Zelaya and exiled him in Central America's first military coup since the Cold War, after he upset the army by trying to win re-election.
Chavez said on state television if his ambassador to Venezuela was killed, or if troops entered the Venezuelan Embassy, "that military junta would be entering a de facto state of war. We would have to act militarily ... I have put the armed forces of Venezuela on alert."
And in Washington, President Obama said in a statement that he was "deeply concerned" by the news.
"I call on all political and social actors in Honduras to respect democratic norms, the rule of law and the tenets of the Inter-American Democratic Charter," Obama said. "Any existing tensions and disputes must be resolved peacefully through dialogue free from any outside interference."
The president of the General Assembly of the United Nations, Miguel d'Escoto Brockmann, called the Honduran military's intervention a "criminal action."
But in Honduras, the Supreme Court said in an official statement that the military was acting in accordance with a court order to put an end to Sunday's scheduled vote, which the court's justices had found illegal.

Gee the Supreme Court in Honduras found the actions by the wannabe dictator illegal and the military was acting to enforce the court order!
Now all the leftists are crying foul! Imagine that! Is Jimmy Carter back in the White House? He always liked these leftist dictators-

All popular elected leaders of constitutional democracies.
Leftists? Si. Dictators? No. Dictators are what the US typically installs in Latin America.

As with any written article, when it starts with a lie, it has no further impact with me except disgust. Labeling our president as a dictator is ridiculous and is patently false. Even labeling Bush a dictator would be an exaggeration, even though the man got away with starting an unjustified war, promoting torture as a national security policy, eaves dropping on innocent American citizens with illegal wiretapping and corrupting our judicial system.

I think we should have a referendum vote on a new constitution here in the US that takes away the power of the corporate and international lobbyist and puts that power into the hand of the people. But I feel that vote would never be allowed to happen.
