The Republicans all claimed that Sanford has a personal problem, and completely ignored the fact that Sanford abandoned his post as governor.

    OMG, Newt led a lynch mob against Clinton, and republicans paid over 50 million tax dollars to Ken Starr to investigate Clinton's sex life, but Sanford has a personal problem! The hypocracy is so thick you can cut it with a knife and Liberals need to start taking air time to point it out. No more taking the high road. Giving them enough rope to hang themselves is just creating more ways to make excuses.

    I for one am sick of the pervs in the republican party crying foul with they get caught with their pants down and tapping on pubilc bathroom walls, looking for gay sex, and texting underage teenagers for sex!
    Enough is enough!

      This is "very damaging stuff," Sanford declared at one point, when details of Clinton's conduct became known. "I think it would be much better for the country and for him personally (to resign)... I come from the business side," he said. "If you had a chairman or president in the business world facing these allegations, he'd be gone."

        Then that hypocrite should take his own advice and get the hell out of the Governors office, and banish himself to Argentina.. Let his wife heal and find some real happiness! She will never be able to trust him again, and he has no respect for her or his children.. He's a dog!

        Nothing personal; but your statement is part of the problem. This kind of behavior is not something that's done as a Dem or as a Repub. It's done as a person. I don't keep track on a scorecard, thankfully; but I'm willing to bet that both parties have their transgressors. Acting as responsible adults is something we're all supposed to be doing; and the ability to do it is not restricted to one party or the other.

          --Your right wing bias is showing. Compare the list of Democrats who have gotten up in front of a microphone and yakked on an on about how a Republican should step down over an extra-marital affair to that of Republicans who have slammed Democrats over sexual indiscretions. What do you see? Exactly...Big difference, right? Now, how many Democrats have shot off their mouths about GOP sexual indiscretion AND then been found to be engaging in sexual shenanigans of their own? What happens when you ompare that list to the number of Republicans who have done this. What do you notice? What do you notice? Precisely.... Now why did you need this explained to you? Because you lack objectivity. The hypocrisy is not simply about the affair, cons. It's about not shutting the hell up about OTHER people's affairs while being a total slvt yourself and claiming that you're Sandra Dee. Is this sinking in yet?!

            To me the problem is making a political thing out of something that shouldn't be political. The Clinton thing was ridiculous. It showed us the character of the man (not too cool IMHO), but little else. So it is with this.

            In the best of all worlds, where we all hope to live, we all live behaving as adults and accept and act according to the responsibilities we have. If that's "right wing", I plead guilty. To the extent that we don't, I'm bothered. I'm bothered when I don't live up to what I hope to, when you don't (if I ever know about it), and when any public figure does. Truth be told, we all fail sometimes. I've never really been very comfortable with more than a pro forma "holier than thou" attitude, for preceisely that reason; the "pro forma" part being that all of us should be expecting the other guy and ourselves to live according to the rules we profess to hold dear.

            On who cxalls out who, maybe you could provide me a list; since, as I noted, I don't really keep score. IMHO, there are lots better ways to spend ones limited life than playing political games.

                Call it hypocrisy if you like. But I (and probably most other people) have a lot better things to do with their time. You spend it trying to be a good person, you're alot better off than spending it trying to be a good politician.

                  If politicians spent more time trying to be good people, we'd all benefit.

                  ...and I wasn't referring to your hypocrisy, but rather to the that of the politicians.

          No doubt a lot of them will say.. He asked God to forgive him, and now everyone has to forgive him.

          My answer to that is, Clinton asked God and his family to forgive him too, but not ONE SINGLE con was willing to forgive! NOT A ONE! Good Christians eh?

          http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/events/clinton_under_fi...

          Clinton got a drive by b/j! Sanford had a year long affair and fell in love with another woman, asking his wife to give him her blessings..Wanted her to sit home and act the dutiful wife while he slept with another woman. He'd still be doing this, had this last tryst not blown up in his face. His texts and emails are very obvious proof of that!

            Yeah, Clinton got a drive by BJ while President in the Oval Office from a White House intern, and was a serial womanizer, and lied and covered up, and Hill stood by him to become Senator. Sweet. And the talk is about Republican hypocrisy??!!

          On the positive side, Gov Pawlenty(R) of Minnesota has come out and said Sanford was a disgrace and should resign because of his hypocrisy.
          Psycho, Jenny Sanford has made it very clear that after she discivered the affair she made it very clear that it needed to cease immediately. He asked to be allowed to go down and end it in person and she said absolutely not. He went against her wishes and seemed to think he could pull it off with nobody knowing. What a fool.
          Also Jenny is the money in the family and largely responsible for his successful political campaigns. She was a successful Wall St executive when they married. I expect to see divorce papers coming as soon as she has made sure that all of their assets are protected from pilfering. She is a strong intelligent woman. I expect that he will have to crawl all the way across South Carolina on his hands and knees begging forgiveness if he hopes to try and make the marriage work again.

                    We are regarding arguments that he should not resign,
                    as defending him.

                    We are regarding not demanding he apply the moral rules he demanded for others, - as defending him.

                    Let him resign; and show us a proper moral example.

                      From the Meet the Press Interview: "At the same time, and not commenting particularly on Governor Sanford, … people in public life ought to be held to a higher standard. … I heard one … former governor say, ‘Well, everybody makes mistakes.’ Well, that’s true.

                      “But not all mistakes are the same. And not everybody is a governor or a senator or a president. And we expect [those] people to live by a higher standard, because what they do is going to be magnified, their families are going to be hurt more by what they do, the things they care about will be hurt, and the culture of the nation and the people who follow them will be hurt.”

                      Asked if Sanford should hold onto his job, Romney said: “His holding onto that job is really between him and his family and the people of South Carolina. It’s not for people outside the state to make pronouncements on. This is a matter which is really a heartbreaking matter, and that’s what I think you have to focus on. You’ve got a family in great distress.”

                      Cry that's not defending him, nor is it a DEMAND for this resignation.....it is a reasoned, rational response based on the truth. However, in your blood lust against anything conservative, I'm sure nothing short of a wooden cross and nails would satisfy you.

                        Perhaps you are right, K9ssr.
                        It may be that the moral position here is to shake our heads
                        and say' it is not an issue for outsiders.

                        It is not the attitude I took when Edwards was caught;
                        I wanted him hurt bad.
                        It is not the attitude Ensign and Sanford took about Clinton;
                        Still, that does not excuse me from the obligation to do what is right.

                        Very well;
                        let him live.

                    "It is the fact that he abandoned the people of his state, and nobody knew where he was for days. Republicans are trying to downplay his neglect of his political duties, and are trying to create sympathy for Sanford."

                    I don't care who politicians screw as long as it isn't me. But I do care about the fact that what they say other people should do does not apply to them. And on top of his hypocrisy, Sanford's dereliction to his office and the people of his state is ample evidence he needs to resign. But Republicans do have a history of white washing AWOL of their politicians.

                    I don't think he should resign because of the affair. Things happen in people's personal lives. Its none of out business.

                    I do think he should resign for going off to Argentina WITHOUT TELLING A SINGLE PERSON! Nobody knew where he was, or who was in charge in his absence. How can you do that? Its incredible!

                      He should resign because that's what he has insisted others who have had affairs should do and because he used taxpayer dollars to facilitate his affair in Argentina. Why does this go over right wingers' heads?

                            Democrats/Libs judging Republicans for being judgmental! Hilarious! http://shar.es/uwyC
