It does seem that Patick Swayze should have gotten the transplant before Steve Jobs because Swayze's cancer is the faster moving and he has less time. I am sure that many variables play into the decision making here so one can only comment on what facts are in the article. I am curious though how it is decided as to who goes on the list and in what order.

Poor Swayze got the less effective treatment for sure. From the pictures I've seen of him, man, well, I won't say he looks like a ghost of himself, but, truly, I'm amazed he's doing as well for how he looks. On the bright side, he, and, especially Jobs, have shown us you can greatly beat the odds with this incredibly fast acting cancer.

My doctor also cautioned high sugar intake ,regardless to your weight albiet... overweight ,or average puts you at a very high risk as well. Another note of caution; I was a splenda nut , to replace sugar ( to avoid the calories ), since I drink 3-4 glasses of home brewed tea daily , I had been researching the contraversy re. Splenda , and the Doc. also stated avoid slenda if it's more than a packet a day. There's alot of studies out there that show how Splenda can have a profound negative impact on your many of your vital organs , including the pancreas.

I'm an African American male and at age 72 was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2002, after having survived colon, colorectal and gastric cancers.

Back in 2002, the survival rate for guys in my category was less than 2%.

At age 77, I've been cancer-free some five plus years, I'm in good health and get checked every 3 to 4 months.

I offer hope and encouragement to both gentlemen.
