The Daily Star - Politics - Israeli Army amasses troops, military hardware along Lebanese border »
Posted By dissent 4 months, 1 week ago in NewsBEIRUT: The Israeli Army stepped up its presence along the border with Lebanon deploying armored tanks and setting up fortifications as it intensified airspace violations in the area, Lebanon's state-run National News Agency reported Thursday. In "unusual military activity," the Israeli Army deployed Merkava tanks and soldier carriers, among other armored vehicles, along the barb-wired fence separating Shebaa Farms from liberated Lebanese territories, the NNA said.
Israeli tanks were also amassing along a 5-kilometer area, stretching from Tallat Sobaih army post to Jabal al-Sheikh observatory. Sporadic gunfire was also heard throughout the day, the NNA report said.
Meanwhile, the Israeli Air Force carried out several flights over the regions of the Shebaa Farms, Al-Arqoub villages, Hasbaya, Marjayoun, Western Bekaa and Iqlim al-Tuffah. Israeli helicopters were also spotted over the Shebaa Farms between 6 a.m. and 8:30 a.m.
On the outskirts of the southern village of Abassiya, the Israeli Army set up fortifications and barricades as part of a military workshop around Al-Dohaira post, off the town of Al-Ghajar. Heavy machinery was being used including bulldozers, drills and large cranes. A similar workshop was taking place at Jabal al-Sheikh's observatory with soldiers setting up military equipment.

Commodore1: "Interesting how this article doesn't mention what Lebanon is doing to provoke this."

OK, so what is Lebanon doing to provoke this? Since you are using the emotianally charged word "provoke" which already assigns blame, I assume you know what they are doing. -

So what is Hezbollah doing this time? They are the ones in control of parts of Lebanon. The last time Israel went in there it was against this terrorist organization.

Hezbollah are angels compared to the zionists. Unfortunately the "israel-firsters" in the US have misused Americans again.

Why is Hezbollah, but not Israel, on the terrorism list?
There is no evidence of terrorism by Hezbollah, which regularly condemns acts of terrorism on religious grounds. AIPAC has pressured the State Dept. into putting Hezbollah on the list on phony grounds. In contrast, there are more than 6600 documented acts of israeli state terrorism against Lebanon.

Can't you differentiate between defending Islam and condemning injustice? Nothing could be farther from me than to defend Islam, or any other religion for that matter, but just like dissent, I too condemn injustice no matter who its victim is, whether its a Muslim, Jew, Hindu, Christian, or anybody else.

Lets be real!!!! This is nothing more than political maneuvering on both sides. However, it is not unusual for the Lebanese to refuse to talk to Israel about all of the issues. After all, isn't it Hezbollah's charter to not only not negotiate with Israel, but to destroy her as well? Hamas does a very good job of it as well. Just think of what could be accomplished if both Hezbollah and Hamas took Israel's offer seriously.

All Israel has to do to get peace is start giving back the stolen property, start paying retributions for their crimes against humanity and allow the return of the seven million christians and moslems they have ethnic cleansed. Otherwise, the zionists are just thieves trying to keep their loot stolen by terror, murder and ethnic cleansing.

Sderot - A town built on the ashes of an ethnically cleansed and defaced Palestinian village
We’ve been hearing a lot lately about Sderot, a town that has become the centrepiece of Israeli propaganda. Israeli spokesmen, and Israel’s stooges in the media and among politicians in Britain, the European Union and the United States, repeat ad nauseum the mantra about Palestinian home-made rockets "raining down" on Sderot, although only 1 in 500 causes a fatality. It is a mantra that has been used to justify the countless thousands of Israeli bombs, missiles, grenades and tank shells that are blasted into Gaza's tight-packed humanity. Bu what do we know about Sderot? Below is an insight into the town's history.
Israeli land thieves built Sderot on the ashes of an ethnically cleansed and defaced Palestinian village called Najd.
Sderot was settled by Jews in 1951. In All That Remains, Walid Khalidi says that Sderot, along with the settlement of Or ha-Ner, founded in 1957, were established on the village lands of Najd, which means "elevated plain" in Arabic.
According to Umkhalil, Najd's Palestinian villagers, approximately 620 in 1945, were expelled on 13 May 1948, before Israel was declared a state and before any Arab armies entered Palestine. UN Resolution 194 and also the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Article 13, Section 2, stipulate that the villagers of Najd have a right to return home to their personal property and to their native village.
Najd is 14 kilometres from Gaza. Palestinian Arabs own 12,669 dunums in Najd, although Israel refuses to honour their rights to their personal property, and refuses them their inalienable right to return home. In 1945 Jews owned 495 dunums of land in Najd and public lands consisted of 412 dunums.
In short, Sderot is an illegally occupied territory stolen from Palestinians.
Israeli Goebbels: Stop lying to the world about needing to defend what is not rightfully yours. You're worse than bank robbers saying they have a right to defend their loot!
