As Chuck Todd has pointed out on MSNBC, the Democrats do not have 60 votes as long as Senators Byrd and Kennedy are out sick....but psychologically, this does wonders. And I cannot begin to tell you how relieved I am that Franken is now going to be seated!

You're happy? You realize the average American. The folks going to work daily. Supporting a family. Doing most of the living and dying in your socialist utopia are not all that happy. They're seeing their hard earned money seized by the government and given to special interest groups. Why are there generations of people permitted to live off the works of others.

We see this with illegal aliens too. They cross the boards and have anchor babies. Most work. Some for cash under the table and pay no taxes, insurance or workers comp. They get hurt, welfare picks up the tab for some of it, you and I end up paying for it through hire health care costs. There are those who steal our ID's too but our leaders never mention those folks. They forget ID crimes are at an all time high. Go figure...
You guys own this mess you've created. Lock, stock and barrel. With the spending you're proposing and the huge taxes you're raising, the average American will understand the lies told to him. Hope and Change. I can just see the ads. "Hope & Change. Are you really better off today than you were 2 years ago." It worked in 1980 and it will work again. I only hope the GOP has a worthy candidate.

So now election fraud is now legal. It is OK to have more votes in a district than people voting. New votes kept coming out of the woodwork. It is OK to count some absentee votes but not others. Great way to run an election and have it ruled legal.

I don't think so. I'm still trying to figure out how ballots that were not cast on the election were counted. They were date stamped and registered the day before. The other funny part, those ballots were all for Franken. Obama better have a talk with his Acorn friends and work on the retraining of their people. Apparently the machines used there are more complex than the punch cards used in Florida or Chicago.

I am grateful that Norm Coleman did not attempt to carry this matter further to the Federal Circuit Court. He was gracious enough to end this race now before any further damage was done. Congratulations to Senator-elect Al Franken!

I don't know much about Al Franken as to weather he would be effective or not ... and provide Minnesotans effective representation. But he appears to have handled himself well through this ordeal.

I say, congratulations Al ... and Minnesota!

Well at least the Democrats have their selected not elected guy.

From following this election and from what I have read neither candidate is much of a winner. We will see what he does for the people of Minnesota. This just seems like another strong case not just for a 3rd party, but a 4th, 5th and 6th. There are more ideas then just what these two parties offer.-

John,

Excellent point. The takeaway for conservatives and Republicans lies in the perils of being a moderate. Moderates earn nothing but contempt from the opposition, and their own don't feel particularly passionate about defending them from the misdeeds of others.
If the decision comes down to "heads I win, tails you lose," it's not worth fighting for. Apart from his distemper and arrested development, Little Big Head differs from Coleman by merely the approximate thickness of an Ace of Spades.

I confess that I'm surprised that Coleman didn't go for a U.S. Supreme Court challenge. I thought that he was going to.

That said, I am not totally filled with hope and happiness. The bluedog democrats effectively represent a third party and are likely to thwart much needed legislation. -

BB thinks he knows what the average American feels and thinks. That alone is funny. But, when a person can no longer stay on topic and must rant like that, it's time to call the doctor or to start taking that medication they have been neglecting. My goodness, I bet President Obama caused his nervous breakdown too. Man! Obama has done so many things in such a short time to rip this country apart ... glad we had the last eight years to prepare. LOL

One thing especially good about Franken winning the election is that we can finally have someone with a sense of humor. Norm Coleman was almost as interesting as a cyst on Endoscopy's ass.-

"Norm Coleman was almost as interesting as a cyst on Endoscopy's ass."
Now I get the bumpersticker that reads "Hate is not a family value."
Clearly and unambiguously it's a Democratic value.

Yes! Franken won. BOTH Franken and Coleman had to agree to the recount if it was needed before they even ran for election.
Reply
We had some judges on the bench that Gov Pawlenty appointed.
And it was extremely obvious to most Minneostians that Coleman was trying to fix the election in his favor. Idiot.
We finally, after seven months, have a Senator in DC.
And most importantly the dems finally can filibuster. Oh happy day. Happy days are here again. -

You people are beyond nuts,if Coleman didn't have a case for what he's done, then the judges, and state legislators are to blame. They knew there was a skunk in the wood pile.I personally wish Coleman had stepped aside sooner.Because the sooner this dufus gets up to speak, the sooner the people will be embarrassed. I'm not talking about his looks,we all have to live with what God gave us.

My wife and I walked out of an appearance by Franken, years ago, after hearing about 20 minutes worth of what he had to say.

He's not the revolution.
He's a centrist democrat on many issues, and if the subject turns to Israel, he suddenly shifts far to the right.
He's cut from the same cloth as Hillary Clinton and Rahm Emmanuel. This is not much of a victory for anybody, except of course Al Franken.-

if your statement is true, natboy, then all i can say is "GOODY"!
if franken can come anywhere close to the sheer brainpower and political expertise represented by clinton and emmanuel, then minnesota will have done very, very well for itself and, bless them, for us.

THERE IS A MOVEMENT BY A SMALL GROUP THAT WILL LIE TO DISCREDIT ANYTHING A DEMOCRAT DOES,INCLUDING HOW OBAMA WON THE ELECTION BY A LANDSLIDE.THESE PEOPLE THINK THAT IF YOU TELL THE LIE ENOUGH TIMES,IT BECOMES THE TRUTH.THEY ARE CALLED REPUBLICANS.
