Obama lauds the pull out? Why doesn't it say, "Obama follows Bush's plan and it seems to be working after all."
Reply
Or
"Bush surge worked, because of his efforts, we're turning control back to the Iraqi government."
Or
"Bush Plan worked."
Or
"Bush was right, we should have stayed."-

If your only news source is the network news run by the lefty anti-Bush pro-Saddam/dictators, then I understand your ignorance. It's not your fault.
The Iraqi people suffered under Saddam and his police state for decades. He used the army and secret police to maintain order. If he didn't like you, your whole family and village were greatly at risk. There are claims on power and running water being better under his rule, this is simply not true. Their infrastructure was so bad, several of his palaces didn't have running water or flush toilets. Electricity was provided by generators because many power grids were never built. That's the problem when you're trying to build an army of conquest. New tanks or running water for the people. New AK-47's or electricity for the hospital. The common people suffered under his rule and are much better off today. And before you make a dumb comment, I have been there several times. For me it's more personal than business. My wife has been stationed over there for some time.
For a man or woman to sacrifice his or her life for the freedom of another person is one of the most noble sacrifices a human can do. I will not comment further on the job our people are doing over there. They are a credit to this nation and every dictator, corrupt monarch, or tyrant should take heed. We will not go quietly into the darkness, we are Americans and we represent freedom.

Bush's surge worked because he PAID THE TERRORISTS MONEY to stop attacking US troops.
Considering that no troops have left Iraq, it seems like all they did was withdraw troops from particular areas. Harly a troop withdrawal.-

Well, you're close. We showed the Iraqis we were the biggest dog out there and that the terrorists were not going to beat us. You're thinking like a typical westerner, you're not thinking like someone from the Middle East. There strength does matter. Majority rules. The minority doesn't have much of a say. When you show restraint, they see fear. When you show mercy, they take that as weakness. The locals saw we were serious. They also got very tired of burying their families when the terrorists would strike. They were the ones turning in the safe houses. They worked with American forces taking ownership of their country. They're still members of different tribes but they're all a part of Iraq and are working together.

As for your last comment, it's a staged withdrawal not the full scale route that was suggested Obama, Murtha, Reid, Pelosi and the rest of the usual suspects. The US forces are doing a planned draw down and pull out. They will slowly disappear as the Iraqi forces continue to take control. Remember you have 2 very dangerous dictatorships around Iraq. Iran and Syria will jump at any chance to take over Iraq. Why? Dictatorships have problems explaining the freedoms a democracy offers to people oppressed. -

Obama has said there will be a "residual force" of 50,000 troops remaining.

And those "withdrawn" may well find themselves withdrawn to Afghanistan.
Anybody who sees this as a victory either for peace or for the troops is living in a fool's paradise.
