    UnusualSuspect,

    You state:

"Many people thought Reagan was a joke..."

Except those that mattered; such as Mikael Gorbachev. Though I had my problems with some of President Reagan's policies, I'll always be indebted to him for being a REAL leader and bringing down the Soviet Union, as even "Gorby" readily admits. America could use a leader of his caliber again. Al Franken wasn't fit to shine Reagan's shoes when he was alive.

I would gladly eat a heaping plateful of crow if Sen. Franken takes his new position as a United States Senator SERIOUSLY and REFUSES to be a "rubber-stamp" for Obama and instead becomes a true champion of our beleagered Constitution. THAT would be such a pleasant surprise, and stranger things have been known to happen.

Yes, if Franken turns out to be a closet Libertarian rather than another run-of-the mill liberal, then that would indeed be a pleasant surprise. I haven't paid much attention to the man since his SNL days, when I enjoyed his comedy, so I can't venture a guess on the present-day likelihood of his standing against Obama's socialist juggernaut. I suppose we shall now see.
