KBR was contracted to provide waste-disposal services at several
of our bases in Iraq and Afghanistan. The description in this piece
about the "burn pits" - where EVERYTHING is set aflame in the open
and our forces are breathing in the noxious smoke - would pass
no local ordinance here because of it's toxic nature.

Would it be considered a combat related injury if we've been
PAYING KBR to do it? If the Taliban and al-Qaeda don't get them -
    KBR will? Truly sickening!

Hope you don't mind if I post your comment to me during our chat this morning, Anteup - but it's so right-on...

"Got a feeling it will be like Agent Orange - those effected will mostly
be "gone" before we ever determine it WAS detrimental to their health!"

Agreed - how many times do we have to address the very same issues concerning the health of our troops...a window into the definition of insanity.

So it's going to take an act of Congress to do something about it? That ought to take about 3 years, and meanwhile our military personnell is still being exposed? All righty then, no big rush.
Oh, and about KBR; Just for fun let's remember that company is a Halliburton Subsidiary.

I thought KBR was just Haliburton renamed or re-birthed after the Haliburton scandals started popping up left and right.

Actually my understanding is Hallibuton is a US entity, while KBR (Kellogg,Brown & Root)
is the global or international entity. Same thing just different spheres of operation.
          Same behavior too!

War as an industry - from the vaccines for the troops to their uniforms - their hardware - the vehicles - the bases - the
food and WATER (KBR again - remember?) all the way to the
caskets and the flags to drape them in!
Those services seem to be what they REALLY mean when they
say Support the Troops. Remember that WWII movie, "They Were
Expendable"........sadly that is too true to this day for the
men and women who don the uniform and serve.
Where is ACCOUNTABILITY in a timely fashion?

Reminds me of the old days when infantry was used first before the calvary was brought forward. Why? Because human lives were free, while horses were expensive.

KBR should be investigated, prosecuted and taken off government contracts forever. A permanent ban of KBR would be the best for our troops.
