Posted By suzanek 4 months, 1 week ago in Science & TechnologyThe trees in Oregon's forests are a national treasure in my mind. That's why I'm so upset at a Bush-era plan to open more than 2.5 million acres of public forest land in Oregon up to logging.

FTA~ -"The Sierra Club Oregon's website lists what will happen to western Oregon's forests during the first decade if the WOPR isn't stopped. They say the WOPR will:
1. Remove BLM forests from the scientific framework of the Northwest Forest Plan.
2. Ramp up clearcut logging across hundreds of thousands of acres and get over 70% of the timber volume from clearcuts.
Took a couple of seconds of r e a d i n g to get the facts, but I understand the willful ignorance of the loyal haters of conservation.

Guess you should have read it closer, LOL.
I live in Oregon, and logging is a big industry here. That being said, I personally cannot stand the sight of entire mountainsides that are completely bald, especially when they are easily visible from Highway 101, which I travel on regularly since I live on the coast. That's why I promote growing hemp as a means of replacing logging. 8) -

Our Canadian governments are allowing clear cutting of protected forests all over British Columbia. Here on Vancouver island you can't see it from the highway, but behind ever mountain small or big as far as the eyes can see, its balder than a cucumber. And I agree, what about Big Foot.
