Posted By gpsea1 6 months ago in NewsOur ship, The Arctic Sunrise is currently heading north along the west coast of Greenland in a race against time. It's destination is the disintegrating Petermann Glacier, but to reach the glacier our ship must pass through the Nares Strait, which could be flooded with dangerous multi-year ice at any moment.

The vanishing of the glaciers is not only a problem of the arctic regions. In Europe, they are trying to cover vast glacier areas with a dark, absorbing material to protect the ice from the sun. Perhaps people will start getting alarmed, when doing wintersports is only possible in extreme hights over 1200 meters.
