Robert Gibbs was asked today in the briefing room if anyone from the White House was invited to attend the now-canceled Washington Post salons, and what the policy is for administration officials attending such events.
Reply
"I don't know if anybody here was," Gibbs said. "I think some people in the administration, writ large, may have been invited. I do not believe, based on what I've been able to check, that anybody has accepted the invitations."
Gibbs said that the White House counsel would review such invitations, and "it would likely exceed" what would be considered appropriate.

Right! The Post went ahead and had a salon scheduled for the end of July and no one accepted?
And why won't the Post release the names of the people who were invited?
