Is there anyone else that sees a similarity between this and Spiro Agnew who was involved with taking bribes from building contractors? If this story is true, her career could be over but sadly she fits right in with the group that left the White House so who knows?

A little tree shaking and the wrong fruit will be dropping down. Palin knows that she's going to have to ride out these storms and best not to do it while she is in office. She has always had too much to hide and it will not take too much stirring of the pot to smell the stench.

What's the difference between taking Bribes and giving them. Currently in the White House we have a president that was giving money to Unions in the guise of a "Bailout" because those people voted for him. Where is your outrage over that? The president just wasted Billions on getting votes and yet you say nothing because they are Liberal votes.

This whole thing shows more about Liberals and their problems that Palins. The Liberal Fem Nazi's never stood up for Palin who is a Women. WHy? Because she is a REpublican. So basically Feminism and women empowerment doesn't count if you don't follow the party lines. Same goes for pretty much anything these Liberals spout about like race. Hate on Condeelza rice, Colin Powell and Justice Thomas but prop up Jesse Jackson.
Liberalism and Feminism is a Joke and Sarah Palin is making it more clear than ever.-

All opinion and spin coupled with lies. Typical GOP tactic.

Because she's a poorly educated nut who believes dinosaurs walked the earth with humans, believes that Christians should secretly infiltrate and take over the government and thinks being able to see Russia from her office (which she can't) gives her foreign policy experience.

I'm not doing a tit for tat here, but we should be outraged when any of them make personal profit off of us over and beyond their salary after we entrusted them and 'allowed' them into office. More times than not these folks forget they are being 'allowed' the privilege of being in office.
Has anyone noticed just how many people in politics (on both sides) go to DC as either Middle Class or even slightly well off, only to become filthy rich?
They make a decent salary indeed, but the costs of living in DC are out the roof. Just how do these people gather such wealth?
Anyone have any suggestions how that wealth is amassed?-

I'm not going to go into my list your list our list here,,,,, it's just a known fact that they do it on both sides at our expense and WE have allowed it way too long.
Using OUR tax dollars to buy votes, enrich themselves from donations from others an in turn enriching the donors with lucrative contracts or legislation.
Politics is a cesspool and it's our fault. We are their enablers,,, we let them into office and more times than not give those we personally vote for pass while we focus on 'the other politician's bad behavior". They manipulate the moeny we send and spend it as if we gave them permission to use the money as if it were their own personal money.

I rarely ever agree with you, but there is no denying this fact. I find it simply stunning that any politician can get away with being openly corrupt, then be easily re-elected...yet it happens all the time.
What I find even more amazing is how so many people on each side of the aisle seem to think that their politicians are -always- the good guys. I may lean towards the side of the Democrats, but I'm the first to admit that they can be just as disgustingly corrupt as any Republican can be. 8( -

Slate, I have to agree with for once! The problem, as I see it, is that our 535 elected officials in Washington are chosen to lead this country and yet we pay them less than the county administrator of my small county. It's rediculous. Only people that are already rich will run for office because the pay certainly won't sustain them. If they're NOT filthy rich already, they've got their hands out.
Reply
The way to stop it is pay the representative $2 million/year, Senators $3million/year, and the President $10million/year. Then ban any and all donations from lobbyists, etc.
The expense to the taxpayers for their salaries will be a pittance if it proves to stop the corruption.-

I agree for the most part, but you know what happened to 'service"? I think the founders intent was for public service for a while then going back to the private sector not a life long (CORPORATION) which is really what these people have become,,,,,, they are like Rock Stars and/or Athletes, with their IMAGE machines, Perks.

The best part is they take bribes er 'DONATIONS from corporations/special interest groups, then they tell us to HATE the greedy corporations/special interest groups favored by the opposition and the Sheeple always buy it. The politicians wink across the isle and toward the Corps./Special Interest groups as the Left/Right,,,, Head Spinning/Foaming at the mouth begins as the little people begin the bickering about how the OTHER side is corrupt as they blindly overlook their own party.
In the end politicians know that we are easily distracted by other stuff (man I bet that Rep that went to Argentina was gald of the rash of famous deaths, what perfect timing).
And Viola that's the crux. Tick Tock Tick TocK TTTTTTIIIIIIIIIMMMMMMING!
Try to not have a scandal too close to an election, the Self Absorbed Electorate has an attention span of a gnat (IF THEY CAN EVEN BE BROUGHT TO BE BOTHERED WITH POLITICS '
timing is also important when it comes to when one gets into office,,,,,,
How's the economy, is a war going on, is an unknown attack just over the horizon,,,,,, When you are in office and things are going well then you are da best (EVEN IF YOU ARE RIDING THE COAT TAILS of what the FORMER administration did),,,,, if things are bad you are a schlub EVEN if they former policies of administrations one, two, three cycles down the road finally have festered enough that your bad lunch is it all falls apart when you are in.
SO hey you might as well line your pockets,,,,,,,, the American people can be played,,,,,, As long as they think they are get a PIECE OF THE ACTION, in the form of a new Manufacturing plant, bridge, tax break,,,,, then when the American Public suffering from political Alzheimer will say wow what a good guy/gal they brought home the bacon, what's a little payola to me as long as my thing keeps coming on and the 'check' hits on the 15th evey month (BUT I DO THINK THAT THE OTHER GUY?GAL should be tossed n prison for corruption.

That is doubtful. No matter what anyone says the major networks go by ratings. Ratings lead to sponsors and their money. Unless their sponsors object heavily (read: start pulling ads or threaten to do so) it doesn't matter whether the butt of the joke's partisanship is.

Promising to not raise taxes on anyone making under 250k a year (not one dime I think he said)
He raised taxes on smokers, and he's about to do the same on soda drinkers. And you don't say a word.
He promised 'transparency' yet has been just the opposite. And you don't say a word.
He promised 'no ear marks' and that he would go through each bill line by line. How's his record on that. And you don't say a word.
He talks about tax cheats yet he hires them into high position and YOU don't say a word. And you don't say a word.
He said he would pull us out of Iraq, and hasn't. And you haven't said a word.
He's it still using wiretapping. And you haven't said a word.
He has turned his back on the gay community after promising to be thier advocate in exchange for their votes. And you haven't said a word.
But you still seem to have much to say about Bush as you decry party loyality. I just don't understand why you really want us to believe it's true that you believe that when you have to ask me for a list, when you should already have the same list burned into your mind. "Do you really think Obama isn't going to raise ALLLLLLL taxes? "
So you are ridiculing him over an assumption you are making?”
Firstly we won’t even mention the fact that we are in a thread about ‘assumtions” that would be too easy.
When one makes knowledgeable assumptions about taxes and things politicians say about not raising them all you have to do is look to the past (remember the saying about not learning from the past and repeating it)?
Have you ever heard of the income tax (sure you have), remember when it all started they told us it would never be more than about 2-6 percent? Boy they really were trustworthy with their “promise” to not raise taxes.
Do you also recall a past Republican president that uttered the words (read my lips)? Boy he really was trustworthy with his “promise” to not raise taxes.
Do you also recall a past Democrat president after the Republican that said “I will not raise taxes on the middle class”, then turned around and said “ I Worked as hard as I could but I’m still going to raise your taxes. Boy he really was trustworthy with his “promise” to not raise taxes.
Now you have just another politician in line and you want to buy it? Go ahead you can ‘trust him’. Let me know how that works out for you.
“You said he promised no earmarks. Now you say he talked about earmarks.
Which is it?”
Now this one is a jewel. I really feel sorry for you that you don’t know that Making promises and talking about them go hand in hand.
(As Barack Obama meets with Republicans Tuesday, some in the GOP have enlisted an unlikely ally to derail his $825 billion stimulus plan – Barack Obama.
They’re using Obama’s pledge to keep earmarks out of the massive bill to criticize Democrats in Congress – saying projects like family-planning funding and arts spending in the House version are exactly the kind of pork-barrel spending Obama promised he’d fight.)
Oh here’s a good example of talking and promising at the same time ADA!
During a debate last summer Obama said this to McCain
(Obama replied, "John, nobody is denying that $18 billion is important. And, absolutely, we need earmark reform . And when I'm president, I will go line by line to make sure that we are not spending money unwisely.")
Man that sounds likes he’s TALKING and PROMISING to go line by line and cut out earmarks to me. Is there something wrong with your anti party locality notion that keeps you from hearing things said by the left?
OK enough fun at your expense.-

Where in this statement do you see the word or reference to the word "earmarks"?
Hell no wonder you sound so confused. He says money will be spent "wisely,", (by who's definition of the word "wise")?
But when he's done, you hear "no new earmarks!"
I think I've located part of your problem.
After all, he said there should and would be more transparency in government, you hear "complete transparency"
Could it be that you are making up a few of these quotes in order to create a better smear campaign? Sure looks like it! -

Heck I don't know let's see the word earmark was the 14th word. Oh I get it you think since it was singular that you have a leg to stand on?
I mean gosh ADA your non-party alliance is really showing as you twist in the wind.
You sound like he did when he claimed that 9,000 'earmarks' in that first bill meant that there were no earmarks. Oh yeah I get that one two you just start calling them 'pet projects' that way those non party folks like you can say sigh what a guy.
WASHINGTON (CNN) -- Members of Congress won't be allowed to slip earmarks into the economic recovery package Congress will soon take up, President-elect Barack Obama said Tuesday.
We are going to ban all earmarks, the process by which individual members insert pet projects without review," Obama told reporters after a meeting with his economic advisers.
Obama said that getting a handle on the country's skyrocketing budget deficit must begin with the economic stimulus plan, and that the plan must include changes in the way Congress does business.
"We're going to be investing an extraordinary amount of money to jump-start our economy, save or create 3 million new jobs, mostly in the private sector, and lay a solid foundation for future growth," he said. "But we're not going to be able to expect the American people to support this critical effort unless we take extraordinary steps to ensure that the investments are made wisely and managed well."
But you and he can actually say that 9,000 equals zero. Yeah buddy you really are a non party loyalists aren’t you?

You are so right. Tom Pendergrass was a perfect example, as was Mayor Daley of Chicago. While both were political heads that had machines which operated very smoothly, the fact is that Chicago and Kansas City both benefited from their existence. Question is, at what point does the city and it's residents become victims, rather than beneficiaries.

Sarah Palin may have a book contract now and may have had 15 minutes of real fame as the Republican Vice Presidential candidate, but I predict she'll fade into semi-obscurity. She has handled many things badly. She takes offense at anything that is not pro-Palin and appears quite vindictive with her revenge. You can't be so reactionary when you're running for office, for there will always be people who actually HATE you--and many who just don't "cotton to you." As tasteless as Letterman's joke was about her oldest daughter (his mistake) there was no reason for her to try to destroy him. Comedians make cruel jokes about Madonna, Liz Taylor, Paris Hilton all the time but those strong females just let it slide--not Palin. That's the difference between a real trooper and a wannabe.

The intellectuals know why Sarah Palin quit and it is not about any real scandal it is about all the scandal that was prefabricated by the Obama administration. She just could not afford to legally contest all the made up issues. The financial expenses were destroying her family purse. Exactly the same way that the radical policies of Obama are destroying the purse of every single American Citizen and leaving the Non American Citizens to bask in the fruits of the Real American Citizens labor.
Obama and his Bandits are out to destroy any promising hope and change that can possibly occur. He has a special staff that their only job is to destroy any honest opposition. This time it was Sarah Palin. But Rush stands above them all Obama looks like a fool when he attacks the true Champion that stands for all that is good and decent about our historical way of life.
Now it is your turn, you simpletons, that's right all you useless good for nothings that spend their days trashing people you don't agree with or are afraid might ruin your monthly get well packages. What have any of you accomplished in your lifetime? Nothing that's right, you feel important scribbling your little worthless negative comments on Propeller every day, nothing constructive, nothing informative, nothing positive, just a bunch of time wasting material. You feel important but (The Obama But) you are absolutely zero. Look in the mirror and then send me a comment that refutes my commentary.
What exactly do we have here, a newspaper reporter of a sort, (Yeh! we as Americans honor that these days), a twenty year old Homosexual, (that hasn't even experienced real life) I'm impressed, a rabble rouser with a Masters Degree, (The Country is full of them), a disgruntled Combat Veteran, (at least I can identify with that), or how about the lay about Welfare recipient, (that most likely could work but chooses to live off the system). Yeh, what a bunch of pathetic want-to-bes, but never will, because it is to late to make their mark. So, their hostile, negative, attitudes dictate them to scribble trash.
Truly responding to these individuals is embarrassing. Thank God there are some on this site that can see and can comprehend what the Obama Administration true goals really are. The Destruction of American. The Real American
