well I have to admit, it's a little difficult picturing gay Mennonites. Seems they'd be more apt to either leave their church and way of life or try and deny their sexual identity...
At least they don't have to worry about physical violence.

Who are the MOST judgmental? Churches, that's who.

After getting back into church they way they like you to do by going down in front and confessing your sins and all of that and walking away from who I am and living the "straight life" the head members of the church told the pastor that they wanted me out of the church because of my past which a few of them knew about said it wasn't good for me to be there, it looked bad. I had no contact with another male for over a year and they still didn't want me there after all this time and the pastor told me he had been putting them fine christian folk off for over a year.
The pastor resigned one month later and was rewarded with a better church. We stayed in contacted even when I returned to who I am until his death.

I was raised in church ALL my life until 20 years of age and I have never seen anyone so judgmental anywhere like a church.
I'm not saying all of them are bad but most are VERY judgmental.

This is a very stupid story. The Mennonite, Amish, and other related churches are conservative (meaning they believe the Bible is the word of God.) This means that since the Bible says in both the Old and New Testaments that the act of homosexuality is an abomination they believe it. Therefore these "Mennonites" would have been given the references to read. There will be several steps that happen before they are shunned which is the worst the Mennonite Church can do. This is equivalent to excommunication. Any conservative church will do the same. The Word of God holds sway instead of what people think.
