Sarah Palin To Resign As Governor Of Alaska »
Posted By TimALoftis 4 months, 2 weeks ago in Political NewsANCHORAGE, Alaska -- Gov. Sarah Palin will resign her office in a few weeks, she said during a news conference at her Wasilla home Friday morning.
Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will be inaugurated at the Governor's Picnic at Pionner Park in Fairbanks on Saturday, July 25, Palin said.
There was no immediate word as to why she will resign, though speculation has been rampant that the former vice presidential candidate is gearing up for a run at the 2012 Republican presidential nomination.
Palin made the announcement flanked by Parnell and most, if not all, of her cabinet.

I can't even begin to imagine for a minute, the pressure that it puts on you to run for public office. Having said that, if she's quitting because of the pressure of being a Governor, how is she going to rectify that by running for a national type position?

Well. There are two reasons she'd resign:
Reply
1. A run for the White House (I say GO FOR IT! It'd be good for Obama to win again and more Democrats or indies to get into office).
2. There is some secret about her personal or public life that is so offensive, so horrific, that hasn't come out yet but is near bubbling to the surface.
Either way, more entertainment's on the way.-

Republican strategist and CNN contributor Ed Rollins said, to a certain extent, Palin's announcement makes her look "terribly inept."
Reply
"I think everyone is shocked by this, and I think to a certain extent everyone is going to assume there's another story. You don't just quit with a year and a half to go. You certainly don't do this as a stepping stone to run for president. You finish the job that you're in, and obviously she's not doing that," he said.
"I think people are going to be very suspicious because of the timing. You don't quit on the Friday of a three-day holiday. If you are going to do this, you think it through, you give a good speech," Rollins said. -

It does not take a rocket scientist to figure out that further scrutiny into the life of Sarah Palin would surely bring prodigious results. With her background, home life, and religious extremism, she must have shelves of unopened canned worms.
Reply
The best reason that she could have for taking leave of her office is that she has come to realize the harsh reality: she needs a more adequate education in geography, world politics, and history. Unfortunately, I find it hard to believe she is endowed with that much self-awareness or with much humility. Nonetheless, there is that outside chance that someone has penetrated her false veneer of self-confidence and she plans on going back to school once again to prepare for her run for the White House.
Who knows? This time she may appear on Meet the Press ready to do more than her fancy pageant walking. -

So instead of just not running for Gov again next year, she resigns this year to prepare for a bid for the WH in nearly 4 yrs! That doesn't make sense, think about it.. Being governor of a state for 4 yrs would be good to tout as experience, walking off and quitting won't be very good to use as experience unless she wants to say she can balance the budget because she keeps house and raises children! lol
Reply
Now, all that said.. She's getting the hell out of Dodge, she's been given an ultimatum because she's got some serious skeletons and resigning is probably the only way she's going to avoid going to prison! Not rocket science! -

She is doing what she feels to be the right thing for her State and for the Country, honest and noble as usual Sarah will do what she feels is best rather than think of herself. Wake up America, you are all getting fooled by our new president and you are all going to be sorry!!!

I agree with your analysis. People can't deal with someone who is honest. Most people lie so much that they are suspicious of anyone who is not like them. Sarah Palin is a threat, because of her faith and honesty. They can't believe that someone isn't corrupt and wants to do the right thing for her family, her State and her Country. -

It is my guess that she may be getting her self ready for a Senate run in 2010. Resigning her position would not necessarily help her (might even hurt) if her intent was only to run for President in 2012. If she runs and wins the senate seat, look for her to possibly run for President in 2016 assuming that Obama is re-elected in 2012.

I don't think so Tim, her popularity in Alaska has gone down the tubes since she returned after the election in Nov! She's not Miss Congeniality or even runner up anymore, AND the home she's living in is questionable as well,, having it built by the same people she contracted to build the sports center in Wasilla!
Reply
Something stinks.. She wouldn't resign, it's not good for her reputation or resume! -

No sure thing she would win any Senate race. Her popularity had been on the wain in Alaska anyway. Perhaps she is going to to take this time to kvetch at conservative rallies down in the 48? To rebel rouse a little as a redneck woman candidate. Or maybe she is going back to school to study our governmental system and world affairs for the first time in depth?

Either way I like the headline. I will not cry for her if this scandal related. One American for whom I have very little sympathy.

I believe it's a good tactical move for her. W/all the rabid icehole liberals attacking her she probably needs to withdraw and regroup. She agrees to run for VP along McCain and after that she becomes a target for the liberals. Now as a private citizen she can defend herself like a citizen. This isn't the end for her. She's a lot more intelligent than that moron we have in office. I'm sure she'll be back.

because politics is getting too hot.
She is tough; she likes the spotlight.
If our President can take all the hate and spit and malice

Granted, we express ourselves better but you can't blame us for that. -

Yes. Nothing says Senator or Presidential potential quite as well as the ability to give up in the face of opposition.
"She agrees to run for VP along McCain and after that she becomes a target for the liberals."
When you agree to run for Veep and make statements that you have foreign policy experience because you can see Russia (even though, technically she can't) -- you become a target for anyone with half a brain for humor and irony.
"Now as a private citizen she can defend herself like a citizen."
With guns? Or cowardice?
"She's a lot more intelligent than that moron we have in office."
Five colleges and a bachelors in journalism doesn't make her more intelligent than a Harvard Law graduate teaching constitutional law who edited the HLR. Not in this universe, anyhow.
"I'm sure she'll be back."
Yep. You stir things up and crap always rises to the surface no matter how hard you scrub it away. -

Sure it's a good tactical move when a Republican does this. Would you say the same thing if a Dem Governor or an Independent third party Governor did it?
Reply
Yeah quitting her job as Governor to run for Senate or President makes a lot of sense. Not.
She's hiding something big. And I don't think it has to do with her family. Though there may be more to come from there. -

the LIBs have been able to hit and run while she is in her office

its not NY or Califoria where her message of reform and limited gov.would be more accesible . she has great political insticts look at the press she gets in the middle of the jackson funeral "her passing the ball "I agree as the Gov. there are too many limitations on her to respond to the worst attacts on her family . she is spending time and money on task that is a deter from the people bussines as govenor of alaska
as a private citizen she can fire back at her accusers make speechs to canidates she belives in .... she is following Ronald Regan path she has chrisma the camera is flattering guilding conservitive princeables

Maybe she is finally going to come after both lame a** political parties in 2012. Neither party stands for freedom and liberty they only stand for those they choose to champion. The group that gets them the most in and out of office. I believe she has seen the true corruption of the political process and those who think themselves masters of the people.

Maybe one of them payed her off to come back and stir up some of that trouble she can do, why she could do anything for revenge, and she is the type of person to do just that. there is something going on and we are left out in the cold. I dont think it is family troubles I think it got something to do with our govrnment and if she can be able to get in then aye! you know what she can do and I dont like the thought of it. she has paid back all the money they have ask her to, but her just resigning bluntly like that something is up.

with a 7 million dollar advance for her book who do you think has the last laugh. As a republican I honestly think she should take the money and go quietly into the night. She has no chance of having an effective campaign in 2012, the last 6 moths she should have gone back to Alaska and gain some knowledge on foreign policy and other issues which she clearly has not done. I think the only way the republican party can have a chance on 2012 is to run a last minute fresh face, not giving the left and the media time to trash them before they are even in the race. Palin is damaged goods politically and should enjoy life in Alaska with her new found wealth.

First things first, I thought she was a bad choice for VP, when someone told me that thought it was a brilliant move, I told them it made McCain a 40 state loser. She clearly wasn't qualified yet. Shame on her for accepting that challenge, but knowing ones limits is common in human nature.
That being said, what I do respect, is she started from. She didn't get to her position by being a moron, she also didn't get to her position, by being loaded with money. She was a person who started in her local community and worked her way up. I just don't know how you don't respect that.
I have a colleague who lives up in Alaska, he didn't vote for her, but really came to respect what she did and how she governed. I know this is a survey of one, but it means more coming from someone who has somewhat of an inside perspective.
I can feel the negs coming, but I just wish people would stop trying to tear everyone down. I know its not just the Democrats, and it not just in politics. It seems anytime anyone is somewhat successful, there is a group trying to tear that person down. -

ouch I really touched your communist conspiracy theory nerve huh. You rant about the 2.5 years and the taxing of big oil hmmmm, let me see wasn't Obanus an ineffective 2 yr senator with no experience who wants to tax the big corporations so people like you who suckle at the tit of government can continue to not be productive and live off hand outs. I would say she governed very well in fact you probably have never done any research into the things she has done for Alaska taking your marching orders for the far left. After reviewing your post it is obvious your ignorance has no end.
