"This growth factor could potentially provide a powerful new therapy for Alzheimer's, one that may actually reverse the disease, not just alleviate symptoms like currently available drugs."

This is great news. My mom suffers from Alzheimers and it is devistating to see her go through this. I can remember sitting beside her in church and she looked at me and said " you look so familiar." Yet, just last year she became frantic and crying because she thought that she had lost me ( I am the youngest of 9). I live in Georgia and she lives in Florida and her mind sunddenly recalled my name; she remembered however as an infant or small child and really thought that she had misplaced me. I was on a fieldtrip that day and luckly my sister was able to call me and I assured her that I wasn't lost. It breaks my heart and scares me that someday that I too may be in her shoes. This gives me so much hope.

Just as profitable to "cure" Alzheimer's as it is to treat it. The real savings will be in getting rid of the Alzheimer's or dementia wards in assisted living facilities and the constant, around the clock care. On average, patients don't stay on Alzheimer's meds beyond 9 months.
