Republicans, a Threat to the Republic? »
Posted By ameliog 4 months, 3 weeks ago in Political OpinionSarah Palin’s abrupt decision to resign as Alaska’s governor – and her rambling explanation – underscore again how the Republican Party over the past dozen years has put up candidates for top national offices who are unqualified or ill-suited for those sensitive positions.

"On the campaign trail, Palin tossed out the reddest of red meat, accusing Barack Obama of 'palling around with terrorists' and whipping angry white crowds into anti-Obama shouts of 'kill him' and 'traitor.' She seemed oblivious to the demagogic passions that she was unleashing – or she simply didn’t care about the possible consequences." This kind of irresponsible extremism has set into motion loyalists like Newt Gingrich and Michele Bachman who have been willing to exploit racism to garner support for their party goals.
It is this reckless abandon that shows little to no concern for the welfare of our nation and no concern for inciting hate and even violence that is most troubling about these GOP candidates.
Bush and Palin are representative of Republicans who are willing to sacrifice integrity, moral values, and even the principles embodied in the constitution in their pursuit of political victory. This unprincipled belief that the means justify the ends is indeed a threat to the republic and a civilized society. Our nation and world has paid dearly for this kind of demagoguery. Hopefully we have seen the worst of this kind of conduct from the GOP and that they will recognize this nation will not tolerate that kind of extremism. Hopefully. -

Most assuredly, the Modern Republican's vision of America is ... for lack of a better term ... anti-traditional American values.

Where is the source of this Right Wing angst?
Part of it ... frankly ... is regional.
Here, check out this map....

As you can see, the states that were opposed to a unified nation ... are the core base of the modern Republican Party.
Believe me, attitudes take generations to change. And while the Red States finally came to grips with the concept that slavery is morally vacant ... other attitudes remain firmly intact ... ... such as ... ... a very real antipathy for a United Nation.

More like the Upper northeast, great lakes cities, the pacific coast and a few other huge metro areas want to rule all in their image of America. A few noble men enslaving the masses by giving them trinkets and beads for their liberty and freedom to achieve greatness.
Reply
Taxing the masses to ensure their failures become national not just local. Taking everything from future generations to buy a few votes and the power they usurp with the enslaved masses demanding more. Refusing to tell the truth that the programs are all great frauds and ponzi schemes to gain votes and nothing more.
As we fight over whom is to blame when it is all who are to blame, citizens, voters, non-voters and the elected.
The whole concept of a single nation with every state the same is not the intent of the Union in the first place. -

Um, the federal government should have stayed in Phila?
Reply
Or we should make them move to Altoona?
Or are you just against the Union like the confederacy?
You must be cursing Lincoln. Don't think much of those damned Patriots who created the constitution of the UNITED states either eh?
National policy is best set by a national body, state policy is best set by states, local by local government. Interesting to note all the derogatory comments about The United States coming in from the far right on this holiday that commemorates American independence.
I for one, think the founders got it right.

Have you noticed that the Liberals vilify Republicans almost as nastily as the Nazis vilified the Jews? Liberals seem to be intent on repeating the past. Glorifying Der Fuhrer while blaming everything on the New Jews (Republicans).
Reply
The Liberals even seem to support Zelaya of Honduras attempt at becoming a Dictator, while blasting the Military and Congress of Honduras for wanting to protect their Constitution.
I think it would be a good guess that if Obama chooses to become a Dictator that the Liberal lemmings will happily go along with that as well. After all,the Liberals prove in post after post that they want a one party system...as long as it is their party.
I give the USA perhaps 50 more years of life (If that long) before it breaks up into seperate Countries. It's inevitable. The animosity between the Right and Left has grown too wide for there ever to be any reconciliation.-

I'd say you are the perfect example of what this article is talking about. You've twisted history to suit your own sense of victimization. You've got a lot of nerve to compare what the Jews suffered under Hitler, to what self inflicted wounds the Republican Party are experiencing today.
I'd also like you to point out in the Honduran Constitution where it says the military can throw out the elected officials it doesn't endorse. A military coupe is just as unconstitutional as Zelaya trying to extend his rule beyond the legal term limits.
I feel very sorry for you for writing your last sentence. Do you really not understand that it is not the right or left that rules in America. It is the majority that rules. That is Democracy. For the record, I don't know a single Democrat who wants to abandon our Democracy for Socialism. It is that small minded idiocy that will be the Republicans doom, yet many of you come day after day and spout the same drivel. It makes you look ridiculous.

"thr only threat to the republic is our president who continues to ignore the constitution "
Reply
What are you talking about? Bush was voted out.
"and declare war on capitalism."
Where in the constitution does it say we have to be capitalists who put money before everything, especially people?

The only threats to the Republic are the people who whine about the electoral college, engage in class warfare, and believe that the government is the solution to all problems. They also believe that the government is well within its right to tell you what kind of lightbulbs you should have in your house, what kind of car you should drive, and should be running banks and car companies.

Right now, the Republican Party seems to be the best hope for saving the Republio our forefathers fought for and died to establish. The Republican Party needs some clean-up and serious work, but the Democratic Party currently seems determined to destroy any semblance of the traditional American values that made the country great and instead model the country as a cheap copy of Holland (who incidentally is heading the other direction now after their "social experiment" failed.).

It's obvious that Dumbocrats have never read the Constitution.
Reply
If they did they would realize how stupid they are.
The Federal Government has no rights to tell us how to live, what light bulb to use, what car to drive, where to drill for oil,or to put us under strict Government controls.
Each State is to be independently run.
Read it and weep Dumbocrats.-

Are you familiar with the DOT, FTA, FAA, FCC, SEC, FHA, FDA, the USDA? Under the executive branch and for the protection of health, safety, and welfare, the federal government has extensive regulatory powers. Every time you fly in a commercial airliner with the reasonable expectation that it will land safely at its destination, you can thank the feds for this. When you crash a car with the reasonable expectation that the airbag deploys, you can thank the feds for this. When you by beef that isn't infested with spongiform encephilitus, you can thank the feds for this. Laws and regulations are beneficial to business. It ensures everyone plays by the same rules and delivers on their promises. If you want to see what low regulation and poor enforcement look like, just visit the third world. No distinction between water supply and sewage. Ah, paradise!

I think the right, and the left are missing the point,Obama is by far the greatest gift the republicans could ask for.He is running around the world reading other peoples ideas from his teleprompter, while hundreds of jobs are lost daily, thousand weekly, and hundreds of thousand monthly. In the mean time he's praising California for clean air.I will admit when men are lost they are reluctant to ask for directions, but this is by far the the most inept administrator we could have picked for president.President James Earl Carter sounds so good right now,or Hillary Clinton.Wouldn't it be wonderful to wake up in the morning, and discover that president Hillary Clinton was Commander and Chief, and the last six months was just a horrendous nightmare.God in heaven let it be so,or Jesus come quickly, even today.

According to national polls, the Republicans are at their lowest ebb yet. Even if some are disappointed in Obama, this hasn't translated into support for the party of whiners, scandals, and no new ideas. Demographics are working against the Republican party. Since they can't reach out to new constituents, they have less and less of a leg to stand on. Kowtowing to the rich while reaching out to paranoid, gun toting, bible thumpers is a losing strategy. Its days are numbered. Good riddance.
