The agency has another mission: analyzing the global economy. Intelligence officials say the global financial crisis has emerged as the top U.S. security threat. And to help figure it out, the CIA is recruiting Wall Street bankers.

But it will be a financial sacrifice. The starting salary for a CIA economic analyst with an MBA degree and at least some experience is about $80,000 at most — quite a bit less than what Wall Street pays.
