Did Rep. King comments cross the line? While I agree with some of the media aspects of King's comments we must all remember that in the end Jackson was acquitted of those charges. We may not agree with jury's verdict, but that was the verdict.

Speaking for myself, I have no problem celebrating Michael Jackson and what he brought us as a entertainer.

    May he RIP

If Pete King wants to honor the troops he could start by telling them the truth about the war and bringing them home.
What does he think of the lieing war mongers that sent over 4000 troops to their deaths? Maybe he could sponsor legislation to hold the Bush regime responsible for war crimes. That would be a great way to honor the troops. By the time Jackson's funeral is over perhaps he will have the bill submitted. That way we can honor Jackson and still honor the troops.

"Congressman Pete King (R-NY) feels we should be honoring the men and women of the Armed Forces"

He's absolutely right. And maybe if he was a democrat or independent he'd have honored them by increasing VA funding, increasing pay (instead of paying Blackwater ops 150k+ or KBR drivers 150k+ to deliver tomatos while troops making maybe 25k protected them and took the major risks), increasing benefits, et cetera. THAT would be honoring the troops. Neither side of the aisle has done enough.

While the Country goes down in economic flames, Our attention is diverted by the MJ sideshow.

In viewing the Youtube clip, Mr. King comments came across a little mean spirited to say the least. He could have easily made his point without going in the direction that he so freely chose to go into - all while trying to wrap himself in the 4th of July flag made the video even more appalling to watch.

This is the kind of thing that so often gets our politicians into trouble.

While I am not a great fan of MJ - I'm less of one as far as Rep King is concerned - he is nothing but a panderer of negative thinking - he is a Repugnant in an area that has become overwhelming Democratic in the last few years, precisely because of the perverted view of reality opportunistic politicians like him have been spewing.
Long Island was a bastion of Republicanism at one time - now through corruption & scandal all that is left are anochronisms like him, ranting to their supporters who are drooling on their shirts

So Michael Jackson is dead but he was still a pedophile. You can cry and beat your breasts and cry foul but nothing has changed. Death doesn't correct ones character failings death just makes you dead.

I didn't know I had to make a choice. Can't I respect both the troops and MJ at the same time?

Death seems to make it so people can forgive the sins of the sinner who died. When Nixon died, it was as if he had become a saint for a while, to the point where Carter put down his hammer and nails and started trying to change the world as an X-President. So, if you think about it, the post-mortem praise of Nixon got us into the situation we now have with North Korea, and, emboldened Islamic terrorists.

What ever MJ was is now no longer news, it's history. Time to bury him and move on.

Just one more opportunity for a politician to preach in front of another choir. We can both honor one of the greatest entertainers to ever grace an American stage AND honor the troops who are doing their duty for this country. It is not an either/or situation. There are many others who died the same day. We honor the service and the love, not the sins of the individual.

Artistically, MJ transported us into another dimension, as few artists in history have been able to do. The vigilance of servicemen everywhere protect our cherished freedoms. Somewhere, at this very moment, someone is in mortal pain, some unknown soldier is guarding some desolate outpost, and someone is feeling relief and joy from watching an MJ video. In the mental world of images, there is no subject vs. object: we are what we think.

God bless us all, for we have all suffered a loss of something beautiful.

I respect the man's music but not the man and his behavior. After all the cases of inappropriate contact with children, even if there was no conviction (money can buy you a great defense), any reasonable person would conclude that where there's smoke there might be a fire, too.

                  Do you agree with Rep. King's comments concerning Michael Jackson? Rick Sanchez of CNN is running a poll on his blog;

Not being a fan of Michael Jackson, I'm personally sick of the unending coverage. He was weird to the point of psychosis, a probable pedophile and it amazes me people feel a few songs and dance steps overshadow the negatives about the man. Please bury him and shut up about it!!!!

King is correct. At the end of the day, everyone knows that Jackson is a much a pedophile as OJ is a murderer.
