But when it comes to our healthcare system, it seems we've forgotten that our choices are most limited and our freedom most restricted under the broken, for-profit, private health insurance model that has been outdoing itself on greed and sleaze for decades.

I mean, it's not unfortunate that I agree ... it's unfortunate that what luvmyprez says is true.
The Insurance companies have been protected, coddled, insulated from all malfeasance ... and to gouge the Middle Class for decades.
As a result, Insurance companies in America are among the most profitable businesses in the world.
And why not ... they charge astronomical rates ... absorb NO risk ... and take NO responsibility for their customers.
AND ... through it all ... they have been protected by the 'Code of Right Wing Capitalism' ... that Private Enterprise ALWAYS does the right thing ... and Government needs to simply ... GET OUT OF THE WAY.
By way of 'thank you' to our legislators ... they are funneling MASSIVE amounts of money ... carried in black attache cases ... to our legislators ... to ensure the Status Quo ... and protect their 'Racket'.

I have no idea why luvmyprez was banned, though I am curious, there seems to have been quite a few bannings as of lately around here.

On the "This Just In" page, off to the righthand side, under the Twitter stuff, under The Most Comments, there is a category called "What People Are Saying" that usually has four or five comments listed from some popular stories. When I wrote my original post I thought it was funny that luvmypres was banned and you couldn't read their comments anymore, but they still had 2 of their comments under that category. They change every few hours or so, so they are gone now.

i'm just come from the first of several meetings at work about "changes" to our health care plan. it's presented as an offering of "more choices" for the consumer...just an excuse for increasing costs on the sick. the additional "choices" are high deductible plans appropriate only for the healthiest families.

health care for profit is immoral and unchristian. a single, payer national health plan is the only moral way to go.
we can save a lot of costs by cutting out the profit element, the insurance companies and pharmaceutical advertising and promotions; additional costs will be saved by having a healthier and more productive population.
we also need to get the health care monkey off the backs of our businesses. -

Remember Bush's "nationally ordered" vaccination programs? Easy to establish something that has a very poor cost/benefit ratio and enormous profits for the "friendly companies" if you can make it seem "helpful" to those not well informed.

Question for you geniuses, why is it any worse to have a private insurance company cancel your policy than have a government run health care system bureaucrat say you're not a good enough risk for certain treatment?
Actually, the second is worse because you can still find treatment even if your insurance policy has been canceled but if the government is running health care and they say no, then you're up the creek with no paddle. -

It is quite obvious to me from the comment on the front page that the luvmyprez who posted here is not the same luvmyprez or AlphaGnosis who graced propeller during the Bush years. The person who posted quite obviously and unknowingly posted under a name that had already been banned....

Capitalism is once again being blamed for the failures and interference in the market by government rules and regulations. It was a hundred years ago that the government decided that Americans were no longer capable of medicating themselves. Now, it will be bean-counting bureaucrats or government-sanctioned insurers who will make medical decisions, not you and your doctor. -

Just a second ago - on Rachel Maddow - they said that the healthcare industry is spending 1.4 million per day to lobby

against any government plan. They also stated that the industry
has hired 350 ex-congressional members and staffers to help them
lobby our current congress. Why are't they trying to impress US
with how well they'll take care of us if given the chance?
No - no, they go directly to influencing congress on what to choose for us!!
