Rendell Lays Into Palin: Calls Resignation "Ridiculous," Accuses Her Of "Abandoning" State »
Posted By david_nwpa 5 months, 3 weeks ago in Political NewsAmong the myriad questions raised by Gov. Sarah Palin's abrupt resignation, is how her excuse for leaving office -- mainly that lame-duck governors are ineffective -- would play among her peers who were, you know, actually lame-ducks governors. The answer, not surprisingly, is quite poorly.

Plenty of other Sarah Palin stories are running rampant on Propeller, but I thought why not add another to the mix. Who better to describe life as a lame duck governor than Ed Rendell of Pennsylvania. As governor, he is term-limited, and cannot run for office again next year. Instead of abandoning Harrisburg and Pennsylvania, he is staying at the Capitol until the Commonwealth's budget is passed by the legislature. In all his years as governor, he has never done it on time. For that particular reason, it is so important to keep working until his term ends.

So too with Sarah Palin. Rather than remaining as Governor of Alaska until her current term expires, she is abandoning all the constituents who supported her and even the ones who did not. She gave up on Alaska. Even Governor Sanford has not resigned in South Carolina; and plenty of people would gladly see him dethroned. -

The good news is that if she were to win the Presidency, she would refuse to run for a second term, and if the Dems controlled congress might even resign after the second year of her first term because she wouldn't want to be a lame duck. So, at worst we would have her for 4 years and maybe only for 2.

You know. I kinda think that Palin made the right decision for the state of Alaska. With ongoing ethics complaints, with her spending so much time trying to get national attention, I think she was ignoring her state and her constituents. I don't think she was worthy of the job she had. As a person, I applaud her for doing the right thing and leaving a job she could no longer handle to someone who could.

And because of that, I also believe she is unfit to hold public office ever again. She has already admitted to not being able to do the job. It would be ridiculous to give her a harder one (such as POTUS, VP).
I hope Alaska's new governor cares about Alaska more than him/herself. -

Ed Rendell is no one who should give any other Governor advice. He has a hard enough time trying to run PA, still no budget. His only worry is keeping the Philadelphia machine running, the other counties are there to feed it's greed. Raise taxes and remove all desire for business to grow or move into PA. Man is still trying to find ways to fleece tourist and trucking out of millions in tolls. He has PA on the government dole for unemployment payments now, so much for growing business in PA with his great leadership.
