Where can i donate ? To think that a state doesn't accept medicaid (if i read right ) to pay for assisted living doesn't really surprise me. We as a society are so used to disposable items that we tend to look at the old in the same way..Past there shelf life, time to replace..

My thoughts and prayers go out to a fellow vet and a great guy...Salute to you Mr. Haubner.

I made my comment on the other post but will do so again and with more input.
I think it is really great that he has a community that really cares about him. It is also another sad story about what Medicaid will not cover, but that is the "state's" fault, not the coverage.
But living to 107 is a milestone, but hubby and I have talked about growing old, you see a lot of grief and lose those you love. He didn't have a family so he didn't know the pain of losing a wife or children so that is good. -

My opinion is that with the payments that he has made over the decades he's effectively "bought" his room..

It would be VERY good PR for the "assisted living center" to demonstrate that they do indeed "assist living" rather than just fill their pockets with money.
Heck - they could ask him to do a commercial for them! -
