I think that the man deserves the same fate as the dogs he killed. Why not drop them at a local shelter? Just like the article said I would let my house burn to the ground before letting a monster like this try and save my house.

Another note. Wolfie, why wold you drop a stroy like this? -

looks like more terror creeping into the nation, folks. these people represent a clear danger to society and i think we should start taking a serious look at these fire-fighting radicals.
Reply
clearly this is in response to media-punditry. which is more proof that those dangerous media pundits must be held accountable for these dogs deaths.-

Replace fire fighting radical with abortion terrorist and you will make more sense. Remember always. You exist as an insane person because people like me are sane enough to follow rules. You all republicans break the rules by killing a few more people or if its Obama its all over then because I plan to be picking up an SKS/AK 47 and a 12 gauge because I plan to be expanding my farming operation out doors because I will now have a yard but if you have that stuff growing in the backyard someone might try to steal it and kill me in the process so I better be like the Eagle scout I am and "be prepared". The weapons will not be a problem but I want to get 2 30 round banana clips taped back to back and I want to load them with 2 hollow points and then an AP every third round in case someone has armour on and I want some magnum fletchete shells in the 12 because I can't aim worth crap but I can put enough metal in your direction to get the job done which be the same slogan Billie D Williams AKA Lando Calrisian from Star Wars was using to pitch Colt 45 and they had a full size poster with some ho stradleing the mentioined malt liquer with the slogan "it gets the job done" and it is the first advertising claim I will back up because booze loosens up women and thats a fact.

<<<He's been punished appropriately, and I think it's now time for the public to practice what they preach and show a little forgiveness and mercy>>>>

No. He hasn't been "punished appropriately" at all. And the moron who made the above statement can kiss my *ss. I'll decide what I forgive, not him. And this I don't forgive. -

i don't get it, people. why are you focusing on this individual? don't you know this is a fundamental group problem with all fire-fighters?

of course it matters that this guy is a fire-fighter. clearly, there is a correlation between people who fight fires and acts of terrorism, don't you know?
all fire-fighters are dog haters!

Why are people breathing fire regarding this story, but everyone seemed a heck of a lot more compassionate with the kitty roaster Cheyenne Cherry? Hypocrites much? It's sad that this man thought so little of his pets to kill them instead of finding someone to watch them. What would have been worse is to have left them alone to die slowly for 2 weeks, but I'm guessing this was a caucasian, so surely the media will scream for him to be crucified while sweeping the Cheyenne Cherry story under their handy-dandy rug. Urgh!

First a woman beats a deer to death because it was in her garden, and now this clown kills his own dogs because he can't afford to board them while he goes on a cruise? Christ, what the hell is wrong with people these days. The sheer stupidity of people never ceases to amaze me.

Columbus firefighter David P. Santuomo, 43, took Sloopy and Skeeter to his home's basement, suspended them from a pipe near the ceiling and fired at least 11 shots from a .22-caliber rifle fitted with a homemade silencer, Franklin County Prosecuting Attorney Ron J. O'Brien said.
Santuomo then wrapped the carcasses in plastic and dumped them in a trash bin behind Firehouse 27, where he worked, O'Brien said.
"There were reports that he was bragging about this."
If he were simply euthanizing the animals, he would have taken them one by one, sat them down, given them a treat and then put one bullet in the brain. If my dog were suffering and I could not get her professionally euthanized I would reluctantly do this.
But hanging the dogs from the rafters like pigs in a slaughterhouse and then emptying a clip into them is sadistic and deranged. He got his jollies doing this. Serial killers frequently start out torturing and killing animals before making the transition to human prey.
In New Mexico, he would be facing two felony counts. And if convicted, he definitely would not be a firefighter any more. -

This guy is apparently a psychopath. He probably got into firefighting because he enjoys seeing destruction and suffering. I wouldn't doubt that he's also an arsonist or entertains the thought of it. A sane, healthy person doesn't hang his pets from the rafters and shoot them. Not only should he be fired, but he should also be committed because he's a danger to society.

He can afford a cruise, but not boarding fees. He has 2 dogs, and instead of just dumping them at a shelter, he tortures and shoots them. None of that makes any sense, and is a lie. The fact that this mentally damaged person is even allowed to retain his job which places other PEOPLES lives in his hands, including his co-workers, is beyond comprehension. He shot the dogs because he is mentally ill - that isn't even debatable because if you choose to torture and shoot a dog because you are going on a cruise and can't afford boarding you are, indeed, mentally ill. A mentally ill firefighter? I hope the people who work with him are as outraged as the people who love people as well as animals and are digusted when either are harmed by a sick person such as Mr. Santuomo.

Scum is a low, vile, or worthless person or group of people.

This is what you are David P. Santuomo and the laywer who wants the public to forgive. Justice will prevail and a very strong and and relentless message should be taught to scum like these types. Who knows how often people get away with heinous acts like these against animals that have no voice.
Sloopy and Skeeter will have their justice. -

I have been a firefighter for almost 23 years. I have been a dog lover for 50. I don't think this guy should go to jail, but a heavy duty fine and some community service would be in order. He could have found a dozen soloutions other than the one he chose. I promise you, the firefighters at his station will never treat him as an equal again.

Some people just don't understand that we are suppose to be
stewards of all that is on the earth. We are to care for the
defenseless and protect the things that are put here for a
purpose. Every creature from the tiniest bug to the largest
mammal has a purpose to fulfill, because God established His
covenant with it in Gen. 9:12. A horse and a dog are among
the most faithful of all our animal friends. A dog will give
you his last breath to please you-- some of your own family members stop short of that one! I just wish we could appreciate
life a little more and show compassion for the things that
very seldom bother us, hurt us and can not speak or defend
themselves. People who deliberately kill animals from negligence or other inordinant reasons are just mean spirited
and sometimes the sociopathic people will kill a child or
another person just as quickly. I'm glad it wasn't his
grandmother or an invalid child he couldn't place. Hope his
trip is a safe one while he thinks about his 'hatefulness'.

Last week we had a house fire, and the attack crew brought out a little chocolate poodle. She wasn't breathing. Another firefighter and I got her back with some doggie CPR and some good luck. Her name is "Mattie" and her folks cried when we handed her to them. That's the way most firefighters treat animals. This guy, obviously isn't like most of us.
