Hate Mail From An "Inclusive" Liberal Socialist »
Posted By btatman22 4 months, 1 week ago in Political OpinionHere is a lovely piece of fan mail from an inclusive liberal named Theresa. We are not mentioning Theresa’s last name, out of respect for her freedom of speech, and we don’t want any reprisals against Theresa for sharing her views, as misguided as they are. This is the type of “free speech” that liberals really believe in. If anything, Theresa only solidifies the point behind our video entitled “Inside the Liberal Mind”. Without further ado, we present a liberal’s view on free speech.

I'm not defending the manner in which Theresa expressed herself.
Reply
That said, nowhere does she argue that you shouldn't be able to put your propaganda on YouTube or Propeller. Nowhere does she appear to want to limit free speech, as this blog post says. -

the profound irony, of course, is that their failure to differentiate among different people is actually very similar to the root problem with bigotry and racism in the first place.

there are a few here that spew the same hate that they accuse others of. and i have a few ideas of who could have written this. -

Well... I don't think guessing "Tessy" would be a stretch from "Theresa"... but does she have a current pseudonym? (Come on, speculation is fun!)

All I know is it can't be antibrainwasher, because there was no mention of "baby jesus on a jetski" or "gay jesus" or "caribu barbie". I don't believe it's possible for him to write anything without throwing in one of those terms (a side-effect of his brainwashing, I imagine).

Unfortunately there are many liberals who are filled with anger.
Reply
And, anger is frustration turned inward.
When their candidate, whom they helped elect, does not carry through on the promises that the liberal believed in, it is terribly frustrating.
And also, a very unpleasant mental state to think that the belief in the candidate might have been based on wishful thinking, not on real world situations.-

--I find it hilarious that only cons are allowed to be angry. Personally, I believe in being "armed and dangerous" without the need to run out and start blowing people's heads off just because an election didn't go my way. Note that unlike cons (who have been manufacturing every reason under the sun for their spectacular losses in recent elections), we had *legitimate* reason to contest the election in 2000. But did we flip out and have teabag parties? Did any Congressional Democrats take to the floor and advocate secession or suggest that constituents rush out to buy guns? Did any Democrats in Congress advise Americans to refuse to be counted in the Census? Did they do *any* of those things, Klarissa? Exactly...So don't even TRY to claim that those on the left are somehow less stable than white supremacist teabagging cons who love guns. DON'T TRY IT. ;-(
"And also, a very unpleasant mental state to think that the belief in the candidate might have been based on wishful thinking, not on real world situations."
--ROTFLMAO...Ok, thanks. I needed that, Klarissa. Good one. By the way, don't project. Cons got screwed inside and out by Bush and Cheney and you loved every second of it (and pleased DO go and BITCH to Propeller about that phrasing, Klarissa) and if anyone is angry it's you people. You've repeatedly backed losers who, even when in power don't fulfill ANY of the promises for which you're here every day prostituting your very neocon souls. And your party is split down the middle, too. Let's not pretend that you're in a postion to preach. You absolutely aren't. ;-x -

This from somebody who I believe would vote for Sarah Palin!
This real idiocy is that those with a brain are waiting to see the results of the stimulus. Not 6 months out but more like two years. You know, the minimum amount of time to really see how this thing is really working.
But the idea of returning back to the type of leadership that brought us this disaster is as-nine. I am not abit disillusioned with Obama. Very pleased with how he is dealing with the world. I only wonder what all of these naysayers are going to say when the economy inevitably turns around? This recession could last at least another year but the business cycle says eventually we will climb out of the trough. There is currently to much supply and not enough demand. At some point this will change. Those are the true factors that drive the economy.

While I agree the mail is on the emotional side, (and for all we know, fictional side) I see no attempt to coerce, intimidate, harass or cause emotional distress. The mail didn't attempt to coerce btatman into stopping his blogs, nor intimidate him into stopping. For harassment, I would imagine a large number of such mailings would have to be received and as for the emotional distress, Btatman's reasoned response shows no evidence of being distressed.

Wolfie - "I think Teresa proved the entire point of the video regrading the liberal mind."
Reply
Although the post from Theresa is completely obnoxious and inappropriate, I fail to see how it characterizes "the liberal mind."
How about the rabid Republican in one of McCain's campaign rallies that shouted out about shooting Obama and made McCain embarrassed. He tried to defuse the hatred he himself generated by saying that Obama was indeed a good American.
How about the secretiveness, paranoia, lying, exclusivity, bigotry, and persecution perpetrated by notable conservatives like Joe McCarthy, J Edgar Hoover, Spiro Agnew, Richard Nixon, George Wallace, Strom Thurmond, Jesse Helms, Tom DeLay, Dennis Hastert, David Dukes, Karl Rove, Dick Cheney, George W Bush?
What would you say about the "liberal mind" set of notables like Abraham Lincoln, Franklin Roosevelt, Earl Warren, Adlai Stevenson, Harry Truman, Hubert Humphrey, John Kennedy, Martin Luther King, Lyndon Johnson, Robert Kennedy, and even William Clinton.
Clinton was HATED by the conservatives, but he personally never espoused hatred nor tried to suppress his political opponents.
What's more, the philosophical foundation of our country is based on liberalism. The Mayflower pilgrims were escaping religious intolerance and persecution. We rebelled against the rule of King George. We are the international champions of women's rights and women's vote, protection from child labor, establishment of democracy, civil rights, racial equality and abolishment of slavery, freedom of speech, freedom of the press, minimum wage, social security, anti-monopoly laws, occupational safety, food safety, environmental safety, seat belt laws, smog laws, etc.
Every one of these ideas was considered too radical for its time or too damaging to the previous status quo or anti-business. Each of these ideas was fought against by the prevailing political, special interest, or business interests of the time.
Yet today we could not conceive of a society without all of these laws and protections in place. Even you conservatives. Liberalism is our entire way of life.
If you accept all these laws and ideas, YOU ARE A LIBERAL. -

Most liberals do not espouse such hatred or dare I say, show it, unless provoked. It would not be beneath the cons on Propeller to push their free speech and their views down the throats of more moderate and liberal folks here. Seems to me this article, and the video that preceded it are little more than a way to garner votes for a pseudo-article. Nice try, btatman, but not too many libs are falling for your bait.

This seems to be the latest tactic of the right. When someone criticizes what they say they claim its hate speech or ranting. They dont address any of the charges made and theresa does attack what was presented, please note the exact same thing they accuse theresa of doing is exhibited by the writer, he writes off her post as hate mail and doesnt bother to identify how she is wrong, its assumed she is wrong. THis seems to be highlighted best by Palin and her everyone is against me, The poor righties are in such a tizzy they dont bother to defend what they write they seem to be unable to do that.

There are wing nuts on both sides of the aisle. There are some very nasty conservatives who post here on propeller. I enjoy the spirited give and take for the most part and I don't even mind being called a few names now and then. I do not lie or try to mislead. I make every effort to try and justify my point of view and I do try and not get too nasty. I am not hate filled and I am not a wingnut. I am a progressive liberal, always have been and always will be and I will not apologize for my views. If you find that objectionable then you need to look no further than the mirror if you want to find someone who is against free speech.

I don't get it. Is there supposed to be some kind of lesson in this? Why do you cons think you're any less hateful than anyone else? Because your hateful parents taught you that if you cloak your hateful right wing rhetoric in terms like "Democrat Congress" and "liberal socialist" that this makes you morally superior to people who express their hatred using four-letter words? You don't think your hatred for those different from you comes through loud and clear simply because you tell yourself that you're better (for not using profanity)? Well, all I can say to that is GMAFB.
Reply
--Cons, listen up...You're absolutely out of your minds in your grief over having lost in November and, ever since, you've been running around shooting people to death and publicly screwing around on your spouses with wild abandon. No one is fooled by your transparent attempts to shift the focus off of your elected officials' nutty, slvtty behavior and the crazy antics of unstable and violent teabaggers (yes, I said it--TEABAGGERS--get over yourselves). You're MURDERING people in museums and churches, conjobs, and now you're here sobbing in pain because the big bad liberals don't play by *your* rules? Get serious, cons.-

its like listening to a segment, any segment, of the rush limbaugh show, which you cons pay him to do.
so don't go crying foul when a lib gets nasty. nasty is the cons' game. has been for quite awhile now. you have people on the radio doing it. you even have an entire TV channel devoted to misinformation, dirty tricks and lies all dressed up as if its news.
there's a reason why the GOP has a department of dirty tricks and people like Karl Rove in its ranks.
so sack up and quit your crying.
but whats hilarous is the repsponse of Brett Tatman, editor of frechconservative.com (btatman22 on propeller, whose obviously pushing his own blog).
His reply?
"Just to clear up your accusation of me being a hater, etc., I am not. I simply tell people the truth."
now THATS funny.
btatman, do you actually believe that nonsense? you simply tell people the truth?
wow.
thats denial wrapped up in delusion.
I'll take someone whose nasty and angry and being honest about it over a bullsh*tter whose simply delusional any day. -

Have you read any Palin Threads of late? Do you hate that sort of thing as well?
Have you seen any name calling on the left? Nahh you only see from one side. You see one side as hate and the other as truth.
Maybe the right just gets a leg up because we are a minority here and have minority rights here?

I miss her observations, for the following is absolutely wonderful; fta
"The divisiveness - you and Karl Rove and people like you belong beneath hell - hell is not good enough for hateful bastards like you."
I have to assume that hell, if it exists, is according to the poster, only inhabited by non-divisive 'loving bastards'. If so, then that would mean that the Devil is definitely mellowing out in this day and age of secular enlightenment and liberal permissiveness.
(Maybe he, the Devil, went to anger management classes and has turned a corner in his search for a 'kinder and gentler' Prince of Darkness.) -

Anyone can selectively find offensive or inflammatory rhetoric by people of any political persuasion. Now are you going to claim that people on the right don't use such language or write equally offensive letters? This letter proves nothing and if you are making the claim that all liberals are like this, than that just means you aren't very objective or a very good critical thinker. Timothy McVeigh was right wing and was the biggest domestic terrorist before 9/11. Therefore this must be typical of the right wing mind that they want to blow up government buildings. This is the same level of logic employed in this post. Keep the laughs coming.
