The most glaring thing about Iran and our media is that they were all about "helping the protesters"and making sure that we saw the savagery against the protesters. Our media was there covering people getting shot and we weren't gonna take it anymore.

And then Michael Jackson died.
And for two f'ing weeks we had to hear about a pervert, rapist and how good of a person he was. Immediately the news about Iran stopped and those people were left to be beaten and killed because we care more about pervert rapists in this country than democracy in another country.
I will never understand it. Obama did nothing to help those people and stood by like a lame duck college professor that he is. I'm sure Michael Jackson music sounds pretty good on the White House speakers though.-

I personally believe that it's not the place of the USA or any other country to interfere with the governments of India or Nepal EXCEPT in cases where pure genocide is occurring. Then it would behoove the USA to use every _peaceful_ effort to rein in the rogue government and stop the carnage. One way we could help is to make sure that we DO shine a light on violence when it is happening and plainly state how much we disapprove. The USA tends to ignore any violence that does not have to do with our special interests: globalization, big business, oil. We ignore the carnage in Palestinian territories, turn a blind eye to the horrible violence in parts of Africa--and obviously ignore India and Nepal, while we preach to the world that we're bringing "democracy" to Iraq and Afghanistan and Pakistan, while in reality, all these countries are connected to our vital interest: OIL. Either the oil beds or the pipeline access to oil. Iran has oil; the USA wants it. "Oil is too important to be left to the Arabs." - Henry Kissinger, said it many years ago. It still holds true for the USA.
