Huckabee's Plan to Swift Boat "Evil" Legislation »
Posted By Spadecaller 4 months ago in ReligionReligious Right leader and Fox News host Mike Huckabee has written a fund raising letter for the rightist weekly Human Events. The money is intended to help pay for a Swift Boat campaign against the most important piece of prochoice legislation since Roe vs. Wade.
"The Facts About FOCA" could prevent this outrageous piece of pro-abortion legislation from ever reaching the desk of President Obama -- who has promised to sign it.
FOCA is the Freedom of Choice Act, which would codify the right to obtain and to provide abortion care as held in Roe vs. Wade. The bill would overturn hundreds of medically unnecessary state level laws designed as obstacles and delaying tactics, such as mandatory waiting periods. The bill has been introduced every year since 1987. President Obama has said he would sign it if it ever reaches his desk.
Huckabee calls it:
"... the most evil piece of legislation in the history of our republic."

Yup, ol' Huck writing that letter sure showed them a thing or two.
I don't think Huckabee has the kahunas to do much of anything. His Presidential campaign had the personality of a wet wash cloth. -

It is amazing that when a large group of veterans stand up and tell what they saw it is a lie if the person is a liberal. But when the person is a conservative it is just fine. Borking is good and swift boating is bad. You liberals only believe what you want to believe.

I disagree with the campaign against Choice (or rather the campaign against safe abortions, since even if the anti-choice people are successful in having abortion banned, abortion will still happen, it will just be less safe for those who choose to have it).

On the other hand, Huckabee never seemed evil to me. He seemed principled, though those principles were not all in line with mine.
Evil's too harsh a word. Misguided is what I would call him. -

Why oh why do conservative Republicans feel it necessary to delve into everyone's private lives? Why do they feel it necessary to control social morality? Butt out and MYOB for a change. Your sanctimonious claptrap is not wanted or appreciated.

After reading the article, I don't see a big problem here, IF what he distributes is the truth. If what he distributes is false, it'll be found out, and he'll look like a fool.

If it's truth, then you all should applaud it, and stand by it. If it's false, he won't get away with it.-

Do you really believe those who disseminate falsehoods don't "get away with it"?
Reply
Yes, lies may be debunked. But not before convincing thousands of misguided, lazy or prejudiced people that those lies are in fact true, and that anyone who debunks those lies is a propagandist.
We see previously discredited lies being tossed around all the time as if they were valid by people who can't distinguish fact from fiction. -

So, is it the position of all of you who are going on about how evil Huckabee is for tryng to fight FOCA that he should be silenced? That he should not be stating his opinion? That, because, in your opinion, his position is wrong and an infringement on "people's personal lives", he doesn't have the right to put together his piece?

Is there anything stopping the proponents of this bill of putting together their own campaign to inform us all of the benefits of the legislation? -

A dishonest spin, amazed. No one has recommended silencing Huckabee.
Show us who and how anyone here is attempting to silence Huckabee.
This is the kind of low life methods that you must resort to in order to defend views that are manipulative and disrespecting of the right others have in making their own decisions concerning their own bodies and beliefs.
You and the Huckabees have the audacity to believe that you know what is best for everyone to believe. You have the arrogance to believe that your ideas are the ones all women must follow. Do you believe that murdering the doctors that assist women in their pro choice rights is also God's will? -
