The club president referred to the children "changing the complexion and atmosphere" of the club. In his attempt to sound reasonable, the words he chose scream racism. Atmosphere? As in air? As in smell??? Complexion? As in skin???
I feel bad for the kids and the lesson they learned from the upstanding, lilly white club president and members. What goes around, comes around. These children will grow into adults. The memory of being banned fron this Ayrian club will be with them into adulthood, and onfluence not only their perception of the white adults who acted out of ignorance, hatred and fearm but will be conveyed to their children. Kids learn from their parents. Left to their own devices, children will play with each other regardless of race. Their parents teach them what is and is not acceptable and normal. In this instance, the white parents taught their children it's ok to treat others badly because they have a different skin color and cultural background. They also unwittingly gave the visiting children a reason to distrust and dislike white people, perpetuating the very situation that causes them to fear people of color. And so it goes: generation after generation. A sad day indeed for all involved. The visiting children actually come out ahead here: they can leave with the knowledge that they truly are better than the those who see themselves as "their betters." The club president and members are not likely to see what is apparent to those outside the situation: apartheid isn't limited to South Africa.

The latest Excuse is too many children in the POOL??

Really, now than, if the Vally Club setup two groups 2/60 = 30.

Now are there too many children in the Pool???

        What a Disgrace....
