this is by far the most important issue that DC is avoiding like the plague. and the media is avoiding. and especially is obama avoiding.

chalmers johnson, in sorrows of empire, describes the consequences of such illusion.

In other words, the nation must take the radical step of designing a much more modest military that fulfills only the Constitutional mandate to "provide for the common defense," instead of maintaining a global armed presence and constantly intervening in the affairs of other nations — that is, being offensive

I agree with this 100%. We have to stop strong arming all over the world. If we mind our own business and get rid of Halliburton and the other 200+ so called sub-contractors that are making billions of dollars in blood money to say nothing of the crimes that they have committed. This has gone on far too long and it just plain wrong. We lost over 50,000 Americans in Nam and we killes over 3,000,000 Vietnamese. And our leaders have learned nothing from it nor have they learned from every other time we have interferred. There are too many to mention here but as berkely mentioned....... Chalmers Johnson has written a few very good books that explain why we are so hated by other countries and the blowback that we can expect because of it.
