I have standard education for our women patients. Wipe from front to back after using the toilet. Keep hydrated: 6-8 glasses of water and beverages a day (caffeine beverages do not count). Don't hold urine for long periods of time. Urinate within 15-30 minutes after intercourse or sexual activity. Wash your peri area daily. NO bubble baths or perfumed soaps- that can also cause vaginal irritation.

One cranberry extract capsule of 500 mg. daily will keep infections away. This ingredient keeps bacteria from clinging to the urinary walls.

I know. I have been a frequent UTI sufferer for years and have been infection free now for over a year. The product I use is Life Extensions' Cran-Max 500 mg. supplement. I can't recommend it highly enough. -
