Recent Disclosures Prompt Obama Administration to Rethink Approach to Inquiries »
Posted By Beau7890 4 months, 2 weeks ago in NewsAfter trying for months to shake off the legacy of their predecessors and focus on their own priorities, Obama administration officials have begun to concede that they cannot leave the fight against terrorism unexhumed and are reluctantly moving to examine some of the most controversial and clandestine episodes.

"What's going to be the positive result from airing out and ventilating details of what we already knew took place and should never have? Sen. John McCain."
Reply
The positive result is that we will be able to stand tall and look people in the eye again. We really stepped in it, and now we need to clean up the mess before we can move forward again.-

Another positive result, if it gets this far, would be to prosecute those who perpetrated illegal and unconscionable acts from within the government. This would go a long way toward preventing future officials from believing they're above the law.

That is an accurate assessment - but we've got to get all excited about
Reply
the possibility that they might be leaning in that direction. If we don't show
a lot of enthusiasm and make a lot of noise about it.................this testing
of the wind will come to an abrupt halt.
I don't think Obama WANTS it to proceed - that's what "looking forward"
was all about. Trying to make giving the crooks a pass seem somehow
bipartisan and as bringing the country together - hah! It's okay to REACH
across the aisle - but we don't have to cross over and stand beside them!
My country right or wrong has never appealed to me. I prefer my country RIGHT -
as in correct - whenever possible. And it IS - so we should get with it.

It's about damned time the democrats found their balls and appointed a special prosecutor to look into all the lies, crimes, etc. of the Bush administration. I'd like to see "Bush, Cheney, and all their little pals doing time at Guantanamo! We need to send a message to the world that we will not put up with law breakers and dictators in this country. Bush and Cheney were no better than Ahmadinejad

There a greater chance of a blizzard in hell than the democrats growing balls or not stabbing each other in the back. Not like I like it but it is true. W ruled as dictator and treated the constitution as just some piece of paper because the republicans are only following ze orders. I am beginning to think Obama has no chance because his worst enemy is the democrat establishment who will keep sabotaging each other to the point of having all the power and squandering it between themselves with no effective result. A lot of the democrats are just diet republicans anyway.

So, you'd be fine with Obama deciding to, for instance, implement a policy of spying on Americans without notifying Congress--or anyone else, as long as it was for national security?
Reply
You wouldn't think that violated U.S. law and warranted an investigation?

Ohhh yes. The economy is getting worse thanks to Obama's so called recovery plan that has made things worse and worse every week.
Reply
He has done nothing to stimulate anything.
All he has done is scare businesses from employing people with threats of fines for not insuring employees, cap and trade fines for making too much carbon, and planning to break his promises to not tax anyone making less than 250,000 a year.
Everyone knew his plan would not stimulate. Even him.
It is a plan to make more government control in our lives and make us a Marxist Nation.
What do you do when you can't make ends meet in your home?
Spend more money?

obama doesn't need to find the sh*t to throw, he had to step over it when he moved into the white house.

we've been throwing it around here on propeller long before obama was even a gleam in the eye of the electorate.
the bush/cheney/rove cabal committed nothing less than treason in their failure to "support and defend the constitution of the united states" in their failure to uphold federal and international laws.

I am thinking of little Ms England.
She has done her time.
She took her orders from "Big Steve"
"Big Steve" worked for Caci as a contract interrogator.
Caci's checks where cut from the Department of the Interior.
John McCain also spoke (on "Meet the Press") about how the events of Abu Ghraib where Al Qaeda's best recruitment tool.
The other day I picked up a young soldier, and got him to his base. just in time to catch the bus for a training exercise.(he had called a cab and was sitting on his duffel bag, he did not know that cabs don't come to that neighborhood.)
I felt a lump in my throat when I looked at those clean cut, polite kids, lined up to get on that bus.
And a prayer: would be the best word to describe my hope that they would not come to harm.
In my gut..I believe "Big Steve" put their life in danger. I got in a little stare down match with the drill sergeant, but as I drove away I thought well of him and considered him, a qualified warrior.
I think "Big Steve" has dropped off the radar.
The constitution mandates that: how our tax dollars are spent are accounted for.
It is fair enough for folks on the right and the Left to debate the proportions of spending.
But I wonder how the cards have been stacked: if SAP (or black budget) spending is filtered across the various cabinet agencies.
We do not need budget tricks........ or to hide behind little girls. -

I think they threw him that bone, and it is fair to say in that....his teeth are white.

I don't believe Obama apologized for America's entry into WWII.
Reply
I think he apologized for America's many instances of covert interference into other nations' affairs that ended up harming more people than they helped.
Check the histories of:

--Guatemala
--The Dominican Republic
--Haiti
--Ecuador
--Brazil
--Indonesia
--The Congo
--Chile
--El Salvador
--Nicaragua
--Honduras
--Panama (we backed Noriega, remember?)
--Iraq (we backed Saddam too)
...I'm sure I'm leaving some out.
Do you care to defend our actions in those countries?

As a small business owner I can tell you that all of us yanked out money out of the stock market in November when it was apparent O was going to win and we have not gone back in. We have not rehired people we let go and plans to expand have been put on hold until the electorate regains its sanity. Econ 101 is the exact opposite of what O is doing and before you criticize automan and his ilk, maybe you should read O's books where he tells you EXACTLY what a marxist he is and how he hates America and capitalism. STOP the lies, the poor and black will be hurt the most and they believe you so they can't prepare!-

Do you represent all small-business owners? You can tell me what all small-business owners did because you did it?
Your actions contribute to the fall of the stock market. You preemptively pulled your money out, out of irrational fear, and you complain that the market fell after you did.
Your actions contributing to high unemployment. Again out of irrational fear, you keep from hiring new workers.
Obama's not helping people get jobs? Look in the mirror, jackass. You aren't hiring people. Out of irrational fear.
Great job. But I'm not surprised.

If Hitler were alive today, Obama would be apologizing to him on behalf of the United Socialist States of America. God how pathetic we've become under the People's Socialist Democratic Party and their stooge, Comrade Obama. For the first time in my life, I am embarrassed to be an American, although despite Obama and the Socialist Democrats, were are still the best nation in the world. Not much though, and we're continuing to slip.

What we need is another president like Ronald Reagan. That man won the Cold War for the USA and destroyed the USSR. Now we have a Socialist that is turning us into the United Socialist States of America, where the government runs everything, just in like the old Soviet Union. What the hell is this country coming to, and when do we replace the stars on our flag with the hammer and sickle?

The government is taking over banking, auto production, and soon healthcare. Is that a capitalistic society? Not hardly. We fought against what we are now becoming. A country where the government controls every aspect of your life from cradle to grave. Some people like that idea, personally, I prefer freedom. A concept that is becoming foreign in the USSA. (United Socialist States of America.) The federal government wants control over everything, and as long as the Socialist Democratic Party keep going the way they are, we will continue to lose more and more freedoms. If you think you still live in a free country, you are either very naive or very stupid. Sure, are we freer than most? Yes. Are we really a free country? I sure as hell don't feel like it when I'm damned near strip searched to board a domestic flight, or when I pay taxes to be redistributed to support those who will not get off their asses and work, and/or are here in this country illegally. (Registered Independent, because the GOP isn't much better than the Socialist Democrats nowadays.)
