Great news, everyone! At some point last week, Senators Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) and Mary Landrieu (D-La.) must have finished fighting all the terrorists and repaired the economy and reversed all the bad unemployment trends, because how else could you explain the two of them introducing a law that would prohibit scientists from making mermaids and centaurs and Jersey devils and whatnot?

    FTA:
"Sen. Sam Brownback (R-Kan.) -- an ardent anti-abortion activist -- is worried that the Obama administration's loosening of restrictions on stem cell research will result in the creation of a new race of bio-engineered 'human-animal' hybrid freaks.

    Or beautiful mermaids."

Where can I get my pig valves to throw at these throw-backs of the primordial slime? Or could we just insist on remedial education?

These luddites are a little too late to shut the barn door since the horses left in 1982. Insulin is produced by E. Coli bacteria that have been genetically modified to be a bit human, at least the bit that produces insulin.

A mermaid may not have much use, but what about a pig that is modified to grow human organs? Such creatures could save countless humans, but would they be allowed to exist under this proposed law?

Hey! If scientists can create a manbearpig in South Park, Colorado, then we better have Congress fighting this battle now! Our taxpayer dollars are well-spent if even one mermaid is stopped before ever being born 20 generations from now.

Clicking on the link to the "twenty co-sponsors for the bill" at the bottom of the story reveals all twenty co-sponsors are Republicans.

Is it now part of the Republican platform to be wholly ignorant of science?

"The bill -- modeled on an inexplicably overlooked effort by Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal -- would ban the creation of "part-human, part-animal creatures, which are created in laboratories, and blur the line between species.""

It's high time we took a stand against blurring the line between species.

Hey, platypus! Mammal or bird, pick a side, we're at war!

(Thanks goes to comedians Stephen Colbert, Bobby Jindal, Sam Brownback, and Mary Landrieu for making this comment possible.)

These humans are very curious indeed as they created hate and fear through the Annanuki and Illuminati would now wish among other means of creating obstacles to ascension (which is not possible)to have "mythological" creatures such as I, originally a mermaid, and my beloved, originally a centaur um banned from existence. It is too late, we have already shapeshifted to human form over time and through concious evolution and are alive and well somewhere on earth. "They" are busted and all that is left is roadkill and target practice...

Again the usual myth that people can only do one thing at a time. While this may be true for the Repuglickin base, it's not true for most people in general.
