Does one operate under the usual assumption that this is a rational figure, a serious politician, a rising Republican star . . . or do you acknowledge the copious evidence that she cannot tell the truth, has delusions of grandeur, has no policy record to speak of and quit her job as Alaska governor halfway through her first term because she is, in her own explanation, “not a quitter”?

The most disturbing thing about Palin's resignation is the right's refusal to acknowledge that Palin is a quitter and couldn't stand the heat so she abdicated her kitchen rights and she'll never be allowed to cook for her state or country again.

The problem is that Palin is a celebrity. People love celebrity and she will always get at least a handful of votes.

Remember the God-awful singing of William Hung on American Idol. Some people loved Hung. And people still love to read about the antics of OJ Simpson, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, etc. To this day, there are even admirers of Hitler.
If the Republicans insist on pushing Palin forward as a viable candidate, however, I do not think the public at large will be fooled by her celebrity status. As opposed to an empty suit, she is the empty 2 piece outfit and Gucci shoes.
