Apparently anyone through the age of 40 is young in the GOP.

FTA:
Founded in 1859, the Young Republicans bill themselves as "the oldest political youth organization in the United States." The group is open to 18- to 40-year-olds and seeks to register Republicans and persuade voters. Despite the silence of their leaders, many members of the Young Republicans have complained about Shay's election, which she won by a vote of 470-415.-

Given the two best-known forays Jindal has made onto the national political scene (this controversy and his incredibly poor response to the president's speech before a joint session of Congress), I have to wonder: Why was he so widely touted as one of the brightest stars of the Republican party?

Could it be because he's such a strong anti-choice advocate?

"Gov. Bobby Jindal signed a law Tuesday expanding Louisiana’s “conscience protection” for health-care workers beyond abortion, adding several services to the list that employees can refuse with assurances of job protection and legal immunity."

The Republicans always say they don't condone racism and are not bigoted but when they are silent about this obviously flawed individual and allow her to rise to a position representing "Young Republicans" in Louisiana, then they are liars and hypocrites. They are guilty of the same silence they accuse moderate Muslims of having towards terrorists when they don't condemn this racist woman.

Certainly, a public endorsement of hate and racism should disqualify a person from becoming a leader of a major political party, but think again. This is the GOP and if anything, despite some outcries from a few fellow Young Republicans, Shay’s display of hate seemed to work to actually embolden her supporters.

"It seems like some of us Republicans are taking our conservative message, mixing it with personal prejudices and racist views, and calling it patriotism. You can cover cyanide with chocolate, but you still can't call it candy." - Lenny McAllister, conservative African-American commentator

Racism is racism as long as one focuses on race as a determinator, whether black, white, latino or albino. Children don't recognize a difference until a parent brings it to their attention.

Despite it only being Tuesday, there have now been three new cases of racism within the GOP this week:

Apparently, some actual decent human beings — including Sean L. Conner (chairman of the D.C. Young Republicans) and Cassie Wallender (a Washington Young Republican Federation committeewoman) — who had somehow mistakenly become friends with Shay were a bit put off by all this, and they made their opinions known on Shay's Facebook page. And, to Shay's credit, she did the right thing.
Shay was silent on this exchange, but soon word started spreading throughout the Young Republican circuit, open to GOP members under 40. Significantly, Shay then "de-friended" Wallender and Conner.
Oh, I didn't mean right thing. I meant worst possible thing. Sorry for my error.
