"I think one of the cautions that has to be given to the president — and I've talked to some of his people about this — is that you can't have so many things on the table that you can't absorb it all. And we can't pay for it all," Powell said.

"And I never would have believed that we would have budgets that are running into the multi-trillions of dollars, and we are amassing a huge, huge national debt that, if we don't pay for in our lifetime, our kids and grandkids and great grandchildren will have to pay for it."

    You can keep up the D vs R thing till your face turns blue. The facts of history shows that the middle class pays taxes when government spends too much.
    
    I guess Obama has set the high mark on middle class at 250k and I think the low mark is around 30k (maybe less).
    
    When you start going from billions of dollars to trillions of dollars of tax debt, there is no way even the top earners can pay for it all. Logic denotes that the middle class will have to shoulder the burden once again in terms of higher income taxes to make up the difference.
    
    Not only this generation of middle income makers but several future one's.
    
    Keep hiding behind the idea that you can have it all for free and the (rich) will pay for your ride.
    
    Regardless of what the evil Republicans spent, or your usual attempt to try and use a program to say they are evil, this bunch of politicians are spending at an even higher rate. In fact they say let's do it now, while the getting is good (before the people wake up to the fact that they will have to share the burden).
    
    In the zeal to have it all, coupled with the zealous hatred of the rich, people that think like you. This spending will ensure tha not only will you most likely never get a chance to save enough to invest in yourself and become rich as well; you most likely won't even have the chance to move past the mid-point of what is called middle class, because most of your income will be siphoned off to pay for all these (FREE) programs you are salivating over.
    
    But yeah I know, Obama promised you he'd only make the rich pay for everything, and you think he's different and will always keep his promises made.
    
    Next time that starts bouncing around in your noggin, call a gay person in the military and ask how the DADT thing is going, and how the other issue about gay marriage is going.

    - what is more likely to make him stay and tough it out,

    He is seeking to criticise Obama sanely .
    It is not great entertainment;

  He has done what we sent him to do;
  taxed the top percent higher,

    It's weird how Conservatives just can't have a guy to do the job.
    
    He has to be a "messiah" or have a pipeline to God and be God's chosen one like George Bush was. I had many Cons on the old netscape and a few on propeller tell me I was "going against God" when pointing out some of Bush's bad policies.
    
    They REALLY can't understand being constructively critical of a president because THEY WORSHIP "theirs."
    
    If Obama can do half the things he has set out to do America will be ahead of the game.
