If it keeps being introduced, it will keep getting attention. Eventually, pressure will rise to eliminate the unconstitutional prohibition of marijuana.

It ought to make the world a much safer place.
    - Fewer black market drug transactions
    - Less monetary value for marijuana, making illegal activity surrounding it less lucrative
    - Less money to drug lords in Columbia and elsewhere

im still torn about this. essentially this takes money from the drug traffickers and puts it in the hands of politicians. still debating on which is worse. =)

With approximately half the prison population convicted of non-violent drug crimes, many of these involving harm to themselves only, I recommend legalizing all drugs.

As adults, we don't need nanny government telling us what we can and cannot put into our bodies; it's a violation of our basic rights. As with other government programs, there are vested interests, especially law enforcement jobs involving billions of dollars.

A little history. In the early 1900s, Bayer sold cocaine, codeine, and heroin over the counter. There were no AMA-backed government prohibitions of people medicating themselves back then.

These drugs were safe to use, being manufactured under strict controls by Bayer; it had a reputation to uphold. History tells us that most people did not become addicted and eventually chose better, more effective drugs such as aspirin for their aches and pains.

Much of the scare tactics used by drug enforcement agencies are false and meant to enlarge their budgets. For example, saying that marijuana leads to hard drugs is like saying that drinking beer leads to imbibing whiskey and rum.

BTW, I have never used drugs other than alcohol, not even marijuana. I view drugs as an escape from reality, something I have never wished to do. However, it is a person's right to use whatever he/she wants. Just don't make me responsible for other people's irresponsible behavior.
