Defective Chinese Drywall Costing Millions »
Posted By altnrg 3 months, 3 weeks ago in NewsThey are looking to recoup their losses from subcontractors, insurers and others involved once they have concluded their investigation of how far the damage has spread. So far the builder hasn't found any evidence of the defective drywall in any homes outside of Florida during the same time span. However, 550 million pounds of Chinese drywall was imported into the U.S. from 2004 to 2006, and it is unknown how many homes were victims of the defective product.

Nothing in this article lists any defect in the drywall. If any drywall becomes wet for a long period it gives off a distinctive oder, sounds to me like poor workmanship rather than defective drywall. Another example of blame some one else in my opinion. Is it bash China day again?

The drywall is flawed, the corrosion problems can not be linked to mold. The article did not expand on the damages to wiring and appliances, but it did mention them, so I'm somewhat puzzled at your comment. These homes have not had water problems, there has not been reports of water damage in these homes.
The coverage has been more extensive here in the States, particularly in Florida, so I do have information not covered in detail by the submission, but the article is factual. I don't believe the submission was intended to be an all inclusive expose, but calls attention to a very real problem. -

There are plenty of defects in the Chinese drywall being discussed. There are heavy amounts of Sulfuric and organic compounds leading to dangerous outgassing. There are a lot of reports in Florida and other states where this was used of copper wire oxidizing and rotting away within the period of a few months.

I don't know if you read the article thoroughly or not but it seems that you missed some parts.

First the article is not claiming to detail the foundings but following up on a known issue.
FTA: "As reported by the Wall Street Journal, upon testing, the CPSC found high levels of sulfur and organic compounds. This has led to an entire inquiry into the potential health and safety risks associated with the drywall."
BTW: It seems that you don't like it when someone giving your comment a negative rank. (when you point a finger, other 3 fingers are pointing at you)

The article noted that the drywall had been tested by responsible agencies and a problem had been reported. It did not specify if the variable associated with Chinese Drywall was outside the parameters of the Drywall specification listed on any spec house. Assuming that the Chinese Drywall is non-conforming, the chain of supply would be a roadmap back to the Manufacturing facilitity, the bulk purchaser of the drywall, and the shipping manifest would continue the trail.
Either the drywall complies with U S regulations or it does not. The article didn't state whether it did or not. -
