Cook and his assertion that President Barack Obama is not a legal, natural-born U.S. citizen, and therefore does not have the authority to send soldiers to war. Today that deployment order was revoked with no statement from the military. Cook’s attorney said, “We won. We won before we even arrived. It means that the military has nothing to show for Obama. It means that the military has directly responded by saying Obama is illegitimate – and they cannot fight it.

The movement to create a separate nation seems to be gathering steam by people who never really 'bought into' the idea of democracy ... something bigger than themselves.

I remember there was a small story I read during the Clinton years ... he was giving a speech at a military installation ... and a clutch of the soldiers turned their back on him.
And we all know how Sarah Palin supported her husband in his Alaska Separatist Movement.
Governor Perry begins talking about separating from the Union.
And of course, there's the Stormfront crowd.
But nowhere is the desire to separate from the Union so persistent than right here on Propeller ... where any lunatic story as to why the Democratically elected President of the United States is illegitimate.
You know ... just the other day ... I made the claim to a Propeller member . . . that it was evident that he HATED THE UNITED STATES.
I took some grief for that remark.
And yet ... look at the tone of these Right Wing Separatists ... they HATE the concept of The UNITED States.
They hate the freely elected president.
They hate paying taxes to the Federal Government.
They hate helping their fellow citizens.
Of course ... they DON'T mind accepting money from the Federal Government ... which ... is a testament to their Fundamental ... Lunatic ... Hypocrisy.
So I ask you ... these people like gandalf ... btatman ... pc25 ... nostalgia ... Wolfie ... and others who refuse to acknowledge the results of the 2008 elections ... would you REALLY want to live in a nation inhabited by these loony wackos?

Officers of the Military Forces of the United States swear to uphold the Constitution --- NOT the President. To wit:

(NOTE: Nowhere in the oath is the President mentioned.)
Maj. Cook is correct in his actions. Speaking for myself, as an Army veteran, Maj. Cook would have been remiss in his duty and unfaithful to his oath if he hadn't taken this action. He is the type who takes his Oath to Our Constitution SERIOUSLY, unlike some public figures I know. -

WorldNetDaily reports on the results of a Wenzel Strategies poll, paid for by the fringe news Website, that asked 790 adults about the conspiracy theories surrounding President Obama’s citizenship. (Conspiracy theory debunked here.) Alex Koppelman goes through the methodology that allowed the site to claim that Birtherism was now a majority position.
The result trumpeted by WND is that 41.5 percent of respondents said “Obama should release all records, including long-form birth certificate,” essentially the “yes” answer WND was looking for. An additional 7.8 percent said they “are troubled by these questions,” which the site has been lumping in with the yes answer. The “no” answer, though, they split up into five different responses — “I am not concerned,” ”questions not valid,” “Obama has met requirements,” “Obama has answered all questions” and “requirements outdated — should be ignored.”
I asked Fritz Wenzel about this, whether it made sense to combine “I am troubled” and “Obama should release all his records,” as one intimates real worry about Obama’s citizenship while one just asks for transparency. “They are different questions,” he said, “but I think it’s reasonable to group them together. If people are troubled by a situation, they want more data.”

I think like me, most Americans felt this story was a load and simply a futile attempt to attack the President. The story simply doesn't go away though. When they've asked to see it, a county record or copy has been produced but no certificate of live birth. It could have been lost. It could have been misplaced. How about producing his passport used to visit his father's homeland? But they can't provide that either. There are rumors he didn't travel on a US passport. If that's the case, how did he get one? As much as I thought it was a bunch of nuts running around, I can't help questioning this matter.

As to your polls, with unemployment hitting 15% in much of the midwest, our grand children being mortgaged to the Chinese, Rape and tax, I mean Cap and Trade along with his government run HMO, his status as a legally serving president is of little concern. We're more worried about being broke, homeless, not leaching off the government. Iran and North Korea building nukes, worries me. With our ultra-printing of US currency, we will have a huge jump in inflation. It happened the last time we had Jimmy Carter in office and this guy is even worse. So no, where the loser was born isn't tops on my list of things to worry about.

This examination is made necessary due to the lapse of time when this issue first arose and now, as there has been more than ample time to manufacture a forged “Certificate of Live Birth”. Sorry President Obama, but you brought this on yourself, and America cannot afford to have a Commander-in-Chief whose Military orders may be ignored or questioned. NOW is the time to put this issue to rest once and for all.

There is a difference between a “Certificate of Live Birth” and a “Certification of Live Birth.” One can get a “Certification of Live Birth” with minimal documentation and no eyewitnesses. This document can then be used to establish citizenship for the purpose of obtaining a passport, but its lack of physically identifying information found on the "Certificate of Live Birth" precludes it from being useful in proving "Natural Born" status. Maj. Cook is asking to see Obama’s “Certificate of Live Birth.”

This is such a stupid thread. I can not believe that you cons still are trying to pin this on him. The fact is that Obama was born in a mud hut in Kenya. Both parents were Kenyans but Obama's real Mother died in child birth but Obama's Father married a white missionary from Kansas who raised Barack as her own. They moved to Hawaii when he was four and his adoptive white mother had a premonition that Barack would some day be President of the US. She went and had casual sex with the clerk of the birth certificate department in the town hall and convinced him to falsify a birth certificate for Barack. This story is completely true and can not be disproved.

Nuh-Uh, Barack's daddy was that alien they kept at Area 51. His momma was a waitress at the local dinner when the alien escaped and raped her. Obama in my opinion is a citizen of the U.S. That being said, I find it interesting that the Army handled this situation in the manner it did. Being ex-military, I know the military doesn't take kindly to insubordination. So I am interested in how this plays out. So I know you conservatives may be wondering if I made a mistake by giving this story a pos. Well I think it's a good story, even though I don't like the characters in it. If the Army allows this precedent, it would be interesting to see how many more defections there will be. Who knows maybe we can end these wars more quickly than anticipated earlier. I might add that I wouldn't want to serve in the same unit with someone like him. He's a danger to his fellow soldiers.

Transparency he was talking about was referring to government, not his personals. You do have a point, however, though you stumbled upon it inadvertently. Obama has been somewhat less than transparent in areas like the Abu-Ghraib pictures, and what he knows about what the last administration did while in office.

Fsckin A, I never thought I'd agree with all the flat-earthers on this list, and I am astonished that it would take Obama's birth certificate to bring us all together, but what the hell? Lets do it! lets bring ALL the soldiers home, and we'll blame it on Obama. We can close all those overseas military bases too. Maybe then we'll have enough money to solve our domestic problems.

This is a really sad joke. I read the article. It’s by a Right Wing site. This issue was settled long ago, even before the election. Obama was born in Hawaii long after the place had become a state.

The same was said about McCain. He was born in Panama on a US military reservation.
OK, so some ten for a penny O-4 got his name in the news. OK so the Chain of Command revoked his orders.
The really funny thing is that in his interview, he talks about following illegal orders.
Let’s go back a couple of years ago when a 1LT refused to be sent to Iraq.
Why?
Simple. He interpreted his orders as being illegal.
Like him, when I was in basic training we were told not to follow illegal orders.
The US had lied about WMD’s in Iraq.
The US did not declare war on Iraq.
Therefore, if he deployed to Iraq, he would be following an illegal order.
Well, they court-martialed him.
The result was a “hung” jury.
So, in short….
The Chain of Command just avoided another court-martial that would have resulted in the Major being deployed.
Now here’s the real kicker.
If these OFFICERS had been ENLISTED….THEY’D BEEN FOUND GUILTY. Or in this Major’s case….TRIED and then FOUND GUILTY.

Hold up their boot. The man is an officer. Hung jury, requires another trial. If he isn't retried, why? He violated orders but his claim was he didn't feel the President was the President because of his birth. Then try him, present the C-in-C's certificate and toss his butt in prison.

On the WMD's, that's not a military term that's a Bush term. It's CBNW. Chemical, biological, nuclear warfare. Saddam had and used chemical and bio weapons. The nuclear program bombed by Israel went underground and we know that. Was it successful probably not, but Iraq is a big country so it's not totally impossible that is still might exist. Another question, what did Saddam pay for his family's protection in Syria. Syria wasn't his friend but now his family is under the protection of their secret police. Something was traded, sold or given that permit this protection.
As to Iraq in general, the world and the Iraqis are better off without Saddam. But the reason for the war was the CIA reports. Yet no one has ever asked why their reports were wrong. We had the Plame cover up story but the CIA has never been called on the carpet for the missed intel over the last 40 years. The CIA get lots of money but really hasn't been the agency they pretend to be. Before you attack Bush, you better get the CIA to explain their mistakes.

IT ALL WAS A FRAUD!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! "Major" Cook VOLUNTEERED and then sued. He was working as a systems analyst in the Pentagon and volunteered to go to Afghanistan. And then started this whole rigamarole. The Army didn't REVOKED his orders, they cancelled them because he apparently "changed his mind." He could have just told them he changed his mind and the results would have been the same EXCEPT he would still have a job. Seems that since he is suing the US Govt., he is no longer allowed on Govt. property, meaning he is out of a job. And there is the probability of frivolous lawsuit action.
